Changing Written Signature

This is somewhat of an odd question, since this really doesn't happen often for most people. However, what I want to know is if you were to decide to change how you write your signature, how would you obtain a new drivers license (since a picture of your written signature is scanned and printed on the back)?

I've sent an e-mail off to MTO regarding this a couple days back, and have yet to hear anything. I was hoping someone on here might have experienced this and would know the answer (or works at/for MTO). I know that for credit cards, you can just call and ask for another card to be sent to you by saying the card was damaged. You would then write your new signature on the back once you receive the new card in the mail.

I would just go to an MTO office and request the change right there. They already have the photo to compare you by. There's going to be a fee though.

Go to an MTO office, ask for a photo retake. It will cost you $10, but you can put your new signature on there. You might be required to provide an additional piece of ID.

Also, if you have a G license that is expiring soon (within the next 6 months) and your renewal requires a new photo, then you can just renew your license and not have to pay the extra $10. ;)

Thanks for the replies HighFlyer and techwiz! A fee of $10 sounds better than waiting 5 years for my license to expire to fix it.

I'm hoping this can be done fairly easily and without hassle. Especially since the signature on my license now looks like a horizontal picture of a warped balloon with strings hanging down (I paid the renewal license with my credit card and thought the Signature Card handed to me was the receipt for payment... I usually scribble my signature down on receipts). Whether I make a final decision to change the look of my signature or not, I'm better off getting a new license with a cleaner version of my signature before I run into any matching issues down the road.

I've actually done this........the signature on my first drivers licence was horrid and would always land me into trouble at the local bank when they compared it with the signature i was using on my bank business...

That and the fact that the photo looked nothing like me, I went to the MTO office, paid $10 and got new photo + signature :cheesygri They give you this white piece of paper where you write your signature which they scan into the computer after...the kind lady at the mto desk was kind enough to give me two papers and she said I could give her the one I was most 'pleased' with

Thanks for posting, joey3k! That's good to know. I remember when I obtained my G1, I had a nice lady at the counter who explained to me what that Signature Card paper was. She told me kindly to make my signature look "pretty." Five years later I go to a different MTO office at a busy hour to renew my license and get one of the most depressed and anti-social clerks at the counter who just took my credit card and piled papers infront of me.

The $10 Fee is confirmed, so I'll be visiting an MTO office later this week.
