I cant believe piracy has a more consequences then being caught with drugs such as cocaine.

I knew Piracy was a federal crime but still, when you come to think of it, you would never imagine. Very ironic and true.

It's amazing what a couple of big corporations can do, isn't it?

cocaine destroys you and only you. Piracy can destroy a company and all those who work there. It might also result in less election funds for politicians..hope you understand :D

Cocaine destroys all of society, not just the person using it.
People pirate things because corporations have become so greedy, the average joe can barely afford to buy anything anymore. Does that justify it? No, but perhaps if corporations didn't have to squeeze us for every last penny, people would start paying instead of stealing.

Both are not good but drug is far worse.

One person pirate means he did not pay what he uses. The whatever company only loses (if one considers that as a lose) that one sale. Says, one person priated 1000 pieces of software for himself. Says, there is no way to pirate software anymore before of new technology. Will that person pay money to buy 1000 pieces of software? No, because he does not have that kind of money. He may buy 10. So, the whatever company can only lose the sales of 10 units because of this one pirate.

Now, for drug. That person will cost:

1. health care,
2. his family,
3. if he decides to rob, steal or whatever to get money to buy drug, that costs more.
4. if he is caught, money to put him to jail.

Yes but to jusitify that, the consequences are more severe for piracy believe it or not.

First of all guys, big corporations don't give a rats ass about you! Initiating a lawsuit against cheapstakes that are too poor to buy stuff is a waste of money, since they cannot realistically get money from you.

They will however target you if you distribute files on a large scale.

If they really did target downloaders, then I don't think stating in this forum - or any forum for that matter - that you need a new hard drive every month a smart move.
