Shipping tax/brokerage fee question

if i want to buy a laptop from a site that's based in the states, will i be dinged will enormous fees?

they offer UPS Ground and FEDEX express.

from what i understand is, UPS ground = enormous fees

but i heard rumour about fedex express doesn't have to clear custom (ie. pay taxex and brokerage fee)

am i correct?

Get them to send it via USPS. That's the best method, and they'll only charge you tax when it crosses the border. No fees.
