i am just curious why you have to answer a mathematical skill testing question?

-to show you understand math?
-to show you know how to use a calculator?
-they 'hope' you get it wrong so they don't have to give you the prize?

so why???

I think they aren't permitted to give things out by "chance" so a skill testing question is needed.

This applies to lotteries too.

Lotteries are exempted.

from the link
The combined effect of Sections 197 to 206 of the Canadian Criminal Code bans for-profit gaming or betting, with exceptions made for provincial lotteries, and licensed casinos and charity events

I believe the skill testing question is the easiest way they show you actually did "work" for the prize.

LOL I won a chance to goto the Ford shoot a hoop thingy at a Raps game. Made a FT but friggin so pumped from the adrenalin 3 was an inch too long (back rim), missed my chance at a mustang lease for a year.

Yeah, that skill testing question part made me sweat when had to send in paperwork.

Dude, if you try and actually send some paper answers in and you get it wrong, will they feel bad for u and say, "Well u gave it ur best and u are the winner of this random lottery, well still give u the prize"?

I realize its a law but I always thought it was prejudiced and unfair to those without adequate math skills. I have several family members with dyslexia and it would be awful if they were punished for it by getting a skill testing question wrong and losing their prize. Can't they change it to something so obvious noone can get it wrong? Its just a formality anyway.

Why don't they just pull a SNL Jeopardy question...

"Just write ANY number"
"This color ends with 'urple'",
"What condiment is made from mustard seed?"
etc
