What's the inside scoop, parties, how do you get into the press area to take pix, when and where will the biggest stars be out?

Thanks

you cant just stroll into a film festival party.

If you're going strictly for star gazing, just go to the red carpet events or hang around the Yorkville area.

Ya unless you work for the press/media or have mad connections you won't be able to get into any press areas.

We won't know until the schedule is announced. Roy Thompson Hall is the big one. If you actually go see some of the films you'll be able to see them for sure sitting in the theater watching their own films. I was lucky cause I knew some of the ushers at the Roy and got to sit in the balcony a section away from where the stars sit. 15 feet away from me sat Jackie Chan, Madonna, Guy Ritchie, Ray Liotta, Vinny Pastore (Big Pussy), Anthony Hopkins, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jake Gyllenhal, etc over the course of 3 screenings I went to. If you can't get tickets then hang around the red carpet for each venue.

How easy is it to get close, can you get right up to the red carpet?

It depends on how early you show up. Some crazy fans will wait there all day just to get a good spot and snap pics and stuff.

Have stumbled upon tonnes of celebs and red carpet events during the last few festivals. Just wander around the areas of the festival venues and you'll undoubtedly run in to some neat people.

I want to see one of the gala screenings this year but I've never been to the TIFF before. How dressed up do I have to be? I want to impress Zhang Ziyi. :D ;)

I've never understood "star gazing". What is it for?

It's not like you'll see something you've never seen before. The stars are in movies, tvs, magazines etc. and with great closeups and details. With all the crowd around, you're highly unlikely to get a better close up.

So, what are ppl hoping for when they go start gazing?

If given the opportunity I would assume most people out there would want to get a chance to see a celeb, even more so to talk to them. The filmfest is the only time of the year where there will be a a huge influx of celebs all over the city and the paparazzi are gonna be all over it especially if the Brangelina power couple are in town. Last year I met Vincent Pastore aka Big Pussy walking down the street and I got a chance to chat with him for a brief bit. To increase your chances of running into them you should probably stroll around those upscale eateries like Sassafraz, Sotto Sotto, Bistro 990, Ki, etc.
