I didn't spend any time looking at the unit, but IIRC this came into Costco at around $1800 several months ago.

If GYR8 is on later, he could confirm if this is the correct unit.

Right around the $1250 mark seems to be the lowest you will find any 37" LCD right now (e.g. Syntax Kolin @ $1270 courtesy of Tigerdirect.ca)

Not to be a thread crapper, but I highly recommend the Syntax Kolin, I've had the 32" Kolin for 9 months now (Got it for that hot TD deal back around Christmas for $820)...and I couldn't be happier, pretty amazing stuff..... fcuk sony and panasonic, these are all comparable to those that cost 2x or 3x as much! So I say go for this Polaroid or Kolin....

totally agree....these "non brand" LCD's are making a huge inpact on affordable pricing for decent quality..if your not a extreme videophile majority of viewers can barely see the difference between a $2000 Panny and a $1200 no name...Walmart,Costco,Bay dont carry expensive items where their reputations are at stake..they do their research before purchasing higher price lower margins electronics....This x-mas Im sure you will see decent 32"-37" larger Plasmas and LCD's below $1000 mark...

I have this Polaroid TV (got it for $1800 a while back). The picture quality is actually extremely good. Way better than a lot of cheaper models, even better than old Sharp that I tested out at work.

I use calibration DVDs to test out the TVs (Digital Video Essentials or AVIA). The only problem with this TV is it doesn't come with a tuner (you'll need an external tuner, or HD box). Good purchase if you're going HD (since you'll need one anyway).

It's still $1440 on the shelf in B.C.
A lot less than the original $2000 price, but looks like it will drop further.

the Polaroid is cheap but when I went to look at their TVs I could see why. For the price its hard to beat but for the picture it pales in comparison to the Daytek LCD they have. The picture on that Daytek is amazing and FAR better than the polaroid...although it is also like 1999 so I guess it should be lol. I got a Pioneer PDP-3000 there for 1699...its a plasma not an LCD but looked far better than the polaroid also...it looked better than the daytek too but not by nearly as much. I had a hard time deciding between the two. just some food for thought. at least since its costco if you get it home and don't like it you can take it back although to be honest everything looks better when you have nice lighting and its not sitting beside 10 other TVs to compare to from a viewing distance of 2 feet.

Hey there,

My store currently has the FLM-373B or the FLM-3732. I cant remember which one it is, however it is a newer model than the one in the link. The new model is around $1450ish and sports an ATSC tuner vs the older one which has *zero* tuners in it.

I don't know about the price on the older one, as there isnt much reason for me to look it up (since we dont sell it anymore). If I can remember, I will check into it though...

Probably just plugged it in and powered it up.

25ms response = ewwww. The Hyundai 32" at TD is a sweet deal. Same monitor with Marantz bezel is 1500 quid in the UK lol, but under 1000 CAD after rebate.

Yes - it is a refurb - but those are usually pretty good and the price is not too bad.

I don't know which model you looked at. I was at Costco of Edmonton South last night looking at a Daytek 4040, Sony Bravaria (spelling?) 37" and the Polaroid FLM 373B. They all use the components feed for a Bell HD program. I can't really tell there is a big PQ difference among these three. They are all pretty good. The picture on the Polaroid is actually a little bit brighter than that on the Daytek.

Also, I found that the picture tweaking option on the Polaroid is pretty convenient, it has several presets such as sport, vivid, etc. It also has "cold, nature, warm" for color temperatures.

BTW, the response time of this mode is 8ms, not 25ms on FLM 3701.

I am very tempted to return my viewsonic 3250 and buy this one.

Polaroid is using Faroudja so PQ is very good...
I think it's better value than VS 3250 but not sure about quality - it's hard to find anything on the net about Polaroid TVs (meaning user reviews)

I also prefer this Polaroid over the Daytek dt4040, but 37" was a little small for me.

Uh ... didn't Polaroid file for Chapter 11 quite a while back? They're back now, or what?

Polaroid is now just a brand name for sale to manufacturers. It doesn't mean much, it's just more familiar to consumers than some of the Asian manufacturers that actually make the gear.

Doh, I see. So they did disappear for all intents and purposes.

I was at my local Costco in Windsor, Ont. on Monday. They had their 37" Polaroid LCD TV marked down to $999 from $1800 I think. Not sure of the model number though. It was marked down with a note that it was missing the Remote and User's Manual. No big deal. I had a hard time leaving it sitting there on the shelf! :(
