went to Staples @ Leslie/eglinton - they said OOS didn't bother check for me.
went to Staples @ Ellesmere/Victoria PK - 2 left, and i bought 1 of them.

Price is @ $649.85

I bought one at that price and will get the price adjusted tomorrow.

I was able to take a quick peek @ tomorrow's informal flyer
(8x11 letter format) that was laying around carlessly on their counter.
so the price is $599 after $50USD rebate and free printer.

so if you buy this unit tomorrow @ $649 - $20 - $20 - $20 = $590
($20 off $200 coupon code #59223)
$590 + 14% tax = $673
$673 - $55 (USD rebate) = $618.00

$618 for a Pentimum M Centrino, i think this is a hot deal....
but the bad thing is this is only 256mb ram (no biggie can alwayz upgrade)
and 40gig HDD.

I really think this is a good deal for ppl who only uses this for
compatibility, browsing, MS office, etc...nothin' hardcore.

Here are some snaps i took w/ my crappy phone to confirm,,,

Other link to ACER TM2428 (http://prod.it.com.cn/product/1/10/855/63221.htm) - simplified chinese website
(for some reasons, ACER.com don't have the information on this unit)

i've also helped the ppl who cannot read chinese and babelfished the link above

PS. if you do visit the store @ ellesmere/victoria pk, please ask for RAMA, he's a very very kind person that really helped to find this unit.

WILL UPDATE AFTER PRICE ADJUSTMENT IS GRANTED - i hope....

You can use max. two $20 off $200 coupons. Although I have used three coupons before, but they were not all three $20/$200 coupons.

Sometime you can con the CSR to apply three $20/$200, but most times, they don't want to override the system.

How does this compare to the Dell's for about the same price in terms of quality (when on sale)? For $599 you can get the Inspiron with better specs. I'm asking because I'm in the market for a cheap notebook.

are u talkin about instore or online? ??

for online, u just need to phone-in for the extra (3rd) coupon to be applied.

for instore, GL if they even allow u to use ONE....

It's not that much of a difference, is it?

I think Celeron 1.5GHz w/ 512MB ram >= Pentium M 1.7 w/ 256MB RAM
