I wish they had a 1 day sale for this at $450 or something. That would be a HOT deal.

I am on the fence as to whether to get the S3 or the Nikon D50 (yes
I know they are different classes). Any idea if they might give a bigger
discount later, or maybe featured on the 14 days of deals?

Go for the D50, youll probably have more fun with it and you can change the lenses on it. Better yet, go for a Canon *smirks*.

The S3 has the advantage of IS, and has better zoom than the D50 (with
kit 18-55 lens)... If I go for the low-end Canon SLR that is going to be
way too pricy :(

Thanks, PM'd staples as well (didn't think they'd do it, but they did)...

Dropped the old camera in the ocean on holidays so I do need a new one...

S3 is a fine outdoors camera in good light and adds movie mode, the a620 is another very nice pocket camera.

But if wide variety of photos are what you want,
get a Canon dSLR.
Even the low cost Rebel XT, its high ISO performance is night and day compared to the S3 or anything Nikon makes.
Of course then you have to buy lenses, swap them as needed, give up movie mode and carry the bigger stuff.

Many dSLR owners endup a S3 or a620 as well...

I'm looking at this camera as well, waiting for a better deal.

How is the battery performance?
Care to give more comments and review of this S3? thanks

You CAN'T BE SERIOUS?

Please tell me you're going to walk into Staples tomorrow., show them your receipt, and ask them to pm it?

Really, what you should do is order it online., THEN a couple hours later call in, claim the pm., THEN separate call, apply the two $20 off $200 coupons (so they get directly credited to your CC). THEN go and do a tender exchange with Gift Cards :D.

Too bad you didn't tell me you were gonna jump on this soon enough, I would've held one of my 2Gb Ultra II Sd cards for ya.

oh no., TELL me it ain't so? another impulse buy?

Trust me. with my 5MP and photographical habits, I find I run out of room soon., of course taking high res video doesn't help either :), wish I had a 4Gb :)
