The more being Queen Latifah and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Directed by Marc Forster (Monster's Ball, Finding Neverland, Stay)
Looks very interesting...can't help but be reminded of "Adaptation." Bizarre but funny..

Because everyone apparently likes Jason Statham and "Crank" Maybe it'll pick up once the movie comes out...kinda like Little Miss Sunshine sorta..

Sorry to bump this thread but I just wanted to comment on it since the movie was released in theatres a while ago. I'm surprised nobody has anything to say about.
Well I just saw last night (yes, about a month after it opened in theatres) but I must say I was surprised by Ferrell's performance. This was definitely not a typical Will Ferrell movie. The only thing that seemed out of place was Queen Latifah's role...it just didn't seem like she had much purpose in the movie.
The thing that stood out for me about this movie was the soundtrack. Mainly headlined by Spoon tracks but my favourite scene was the one where Ferrell covers Wreckless Eric's Whole Wide World. It was just a great scene that has even motivated me to try and learn how to play the song...simple stuff right? Just the E and A chords...
Heh, anyway, I would just like to recommend this film to anyone who hasn't seen it.

saw the movie this afternoon...great movie, and i love the scene where he sings and plays the guitar...
the ending was a bit unexpected..in a way i was hoping for a tragedy but i guess it wasn't a comedy either...
and yeah, i agree queen latifah seemed outta place...
i liked how the bus driver and the kid on the bike was always in the scene but in the background..

I enjoyed this film thoroughly, but I thought the ending was a big letdown. I don't see how the author's plan to kill Harold Crick (which was so cliched it made me wince) would've made her book the masterpiece of her career as Dustin Hoffman's character stated.

That part was never explained and left to your interpretation. And the ending was meant to be weak. :D Entertaining dark comedy, reminded me of Adaptation.

I saw this movie a little while back, and I have to say I think it's my favourite movie of the year. And I saw a LOT of movies this year so far. I still need to see The Prestige though.
Will Farrell was surprisingly good, and the story was very compelling. I would recommend it to anyone.

saw this last night, and it is a really good movie. will Ferrell's acting was good. and yes the ending of the movie, (the original ending) wasn't what it was made out to be in the movie. but still it was pretty good movie.
Reminds me of Click with Adam Sander, and Kate beckinsale.

Good movie, great performances.
Haven't given too much thought as to whether I like would've liked the "original" ending more but the way it was all wrapped up was nice...it didn't feel like a "oh we can't make this a sad movie so let's just have a happy ending" cop-out.
I agree with some above posters that Latifah's role could've been played but anyone but the rest of the cast was great.
