Hi all,

I want to transfer money to a stock broker using wire transfer. My main account is with PCF and they charge $20/transfer.

Is there any bank that offers free wire transfers? Even 1/2 a month?

Thanks,
Divya

Can you mail them a personal cheque?

No -- they only take cheques for banks in the US -- and I only have accounts with Canadian banks.

Is it possible to open an RBC Centura account? It is US dollor account, and I know it is the only one in Canada that PayPal treats as a US-based bank. Maybe you can ask around to confirm if it suits your needs.

Do you have account with RBC? I heard they only open this account for existing clients though.

Cheers!

What broker only takes wire transfers?

Check out Interactive Brokers. I have no problems whatsoever using no-cost Electronic Funds Transfer from my Canadian-domiciled Canada or US dollar bank accounts to transfer money to (or from) them.

$1 US/$2 Canadian trades as well. Same commission structure on both sides of the border, and beats the **** out of the other brokers in the US and Canada.

Sorry, I put down stock but I'm actually trading forex.

My broker is Oanda: http://oanda.com -- they have tight spreads on the pair I trade (EURUSD) and are known for their service.
