I'm currently paying $52.57 (with tax) for 58 channels (Shaw) in Vancouver, is there better deals out there? Digital Cable? Satellite?
I really don't want to have to buy a box for a new service with more channels to get it either, if possible...

If you bundle in high speed internet and home phone with your shaw tv, they have some pretty attractive bundle deals

I just want television, I don't need the USA snooping in on my phone calls via a scanner/echelon on internet telephone. I like my conversations private, thanks. They already have my e-mail (and all the internet postings) and there's nothing I can do about that, but I can do something about my telephone.

What are you talking about... Bundling means that you pay for the service together instead of separately for discounts. :| So if you use both shaw cable and shaw high speed internet...they offer a discount. Unless you already have that.

I don't use the internet enough to warrant spending an extravagent amount on high speed cable, so I stick with dial up.
If you're not going to do anything illegal on the internet with high speed cable, than it's a waste of money.
I don't do the illegal thing.

Novus gives me 40 channels for $25. Cheaper if you bundle with high speed Internet.

did you know you can get 'light' high speed from telus for as low as $16/mo ?

I really have no clue what you're talking about. You should read what I said a second time. I DON'T WANT HIGH SPEED INTERNET.

Read the first post below. Where does it say anything about internet? And, there' no deals available with Shaw cable, except if you are student. If you can't afford $55/mo for 58 channels then ask shaw to change you to tier 1 which is abour $25/mo + tax.

Damn... I'm getting ripped off. I'm paying $1.00 less and getting none of that. Don't I need a Shaw Digital Terminal for that package, and if so, how much is one?

I just checked futureshop, wow $300 to purchase one...but I recall some special deals where you got a lot of stuff back, maybe search the Hot Deals forum. I'm sure they have an option to rent the machine too.

I just checked past deals, the Digital TV Box used to be WAY under 300 dollars, in fact it was on sale for $99 including incentives before.
As for the cable thing, do you have any students living at home. If so, another thread talked about prepaid cable for 8 months.
Basic cable: $9.95/month
Full cable: $19.95/month
High speed internet: $22.47/month
Extreme high speed internet: $32.47/month

Everyone is always trying to figure out the best Cable provider... and find the best deal. Currently in Vancouver, Shaw Communications has started a predatory pricing campaign against Novus, a small downtown provider. Shaw is offering only Novus clients a completely under-cut deal for a year of internet, digital cable and high speed internet, just to steal our customers and put us out of business. Check out http://www.10buckstoo.com, we would love to hear your comments, sign the petition and vote, also check out http://www.facebook.com/s.php?q=i+hate+shaw&init=quick#/group.php?gid=107302697894. Consumers need to be made aware of what is going on, if we allow larger companies to take over, this will take away a consumers right for choice.
