Catchy trailer, some logic holes but I like what's been shown so far.

I'm always for movies which depict an apocalyptic vision of the future, so I think i'll check this one out... even if the basic storyline has been done numerous times before in "sci-fi".

This movie is supposed to come out in North America on December 25th, but as I was walking to school in London (England) today, I saw a poster for Children of Men and it said "Starts from September 22nd". That's a first :-0 It's already out here before we get it in Canada. Anyways, it looks pretty good so I will probably check it out during the weekdays and let you guys know how it is :cheesygri

The premise seems so lame (just like the Last Samurai being a white guy).
I'm gonna avoid it. I don't think I can bend my brain enough to enjoy it :).

September I believe was the original release date for NA, but then it got pushed back. Was this just printed on the poster, or was there a special sign that said it started on the 22nd? If it was just on the poster it could have been an old poster that didn't have the updated date on it.

I just watched this, and all I have to say is ... wow. There was one scene that almost brought a tear to my eyes, I really think it was amazing. Not only was the story compelling, but the cinematography was great, some really amazing, and tense long shots, that go on for minutes without any cuts. Really great movie.

WOW!
What an amazing movie. It's been "limited" up until 2 days ago, when it went WIDE.
I caught it at the Queensway in southern Etobicoke, which is a VERY impressive theatre if I may add.
Highly recommended!

looks okay.. but i don't kno if i want to spend money to go watch it at a movie theater, or even rent it at blockbuster.
maybe use up my free rentals at blockbuster for it..
then again, maybe not.

it's meant to be seen on the big screen.
although it's not an action movie, it benefits more from the "big screen effect" than the most popular action movie of 2006, Casino Royale!

the urban warzone scenes are the best I've seen since Black Hawk Down!

maybe cuz it's British, not Hollywood
i love this movie and strangely enough, i really liked another 2006 movie also about a Fascist Near-Future Britain - V for Vendetta.
strange meme going around!

Based on the trailer I saw months ago, I didn't have high hopes for this movie, but it turned out to be the one of the best movies of 2006. I really liked it.

Ok I went and saw it. It was a good movie except for one major error, it broke the fourth wall near the end of the movie when some blood splattered on the camera and continued to stay on the camera as it followed the protagonist around.
I know I'm nitpicky, but I was really enjoying the movie up till that point.
Maybe it will get edited out when it hits DVD.

That was obviously intentional and probably a homage to Speilberg in Saving Private Ryan.

It was on it for a long time too, which means they didn't cut while they were running from building to building which is cool.

6.5/10 for me. It left out a lot of unexplain answers, and surprised that the main characters die off far to easily. And they LEFT OUT CANADA, i'm curious to know what happen to canada while the riot went on! :cheesygri

Saw this on thursday. I really enjoyed it, especially the camera work, which was amazing for the long cuts.
I like movies with futuristic, dystopian societies, and the one in this film was very believable. My wife and I were impressed at how plausible the story was. The vision of the future was very subtle and realistic, not like some other movies with flying cars and androids everywhere.
The Beatles music was a plus.

infertility seems a bit far fetch.
a Sickness that infects large % of the population seems more realistic.
The terrorism and war is very plausible tho... In real life Britain has gotten some pretty nasty terrorist attacks...

IMO it's a crime that CoM didn't win a Golden Globe. Babel, which a decent movie in it's own right, has NOTHING on this flick.

Good movie... but I NEED to know what happens next with the Human Project.
Are they real? Will mankind be saved?
I felt empty without knowing more at the end.
The scene where they were walking out of the building with the baby and everyone stopped fighting was awesome.
It was the most poignant scene ... and the they started fighting again...

Saw it last night along with Babel. I prefered Babel but do not get me wrong, I am not calling it a bad movie. It was good and thought provoking. I just enjoyed Babel more. And I hated the fact that they killed everyone off except the girl and the baby.

The movie has a quite negative outlook of humanity, and it stuck to that to the end, thats why the main character died. Examples that demonstrate this are the use of the baby by the Fishes for politics, the brief pause in shooting when they walk out of the building and then quickly resumes.. That's why the left the element of doubt at the end, instead of a happy ending.
