after being out of service for about 2 years, i got bored and googled 'how to fix my ps2 clicking noise'
so i found this page

followed instructions and lubed up the larger rail [with the same oil that i use for my hair clipper], and pressed down on that big white tab [cuz i noticed that when i turned the screw type rail, it would spin without moving the laser] and voila... I hope it last long enough for me to get a network adapter and Metal gear subsistance :cheesygri
