Did anyone actually think another Sony proprietary format would take-off? Give me a break. UMD was doomed from the get go like the rest of Sony's garbage.

It failed because Sony was too greedy, just like the minidiscs. It should've taken off if they cut pricing. As it is, it's more expensive than DVD with features cut. Not a good recipe for success. Now it's probably too late to salvage the UMD market.

I like the UMD, the quality is nice however, it was expensive and not worth the money.
Having the option to convert movies to pro duo doesn't either.

Hell Sony has movie packs now you can buy that allows you to put a selection of 4 movies onto a pro duo. I think they gave up on their own format, too.
