i stayed in HOTEL DE PARIS on sherbrooke ave in the latin quarters for 2 nights just recently, about 2 weeks ago.

i dont think they have parking, but u should phone to ask.

toll free number: 1-800-567-7217

901 sherbrooke street east,
montreal, qc,
h2l 1l3

i paid $109/night or $119/night for 3 person room (queen size bed + 1 single bed)

their rooms arent shabby altho its a 2 star hotel maybe 3? we had our own private bathroom which was newly renovated, tv, free wifi. we were very satisfied for the price we paid per night considering we didnt get the deal through tour operators/sight seeing stuff.

its conveniently located near sherbrooke stn - just 1 or 2 min walk.

------------------------------------------
btw, we found a really awesome breakfast joint in the area for good price and excellent portions and ofcourse delicious. it was an excellent "montreal-french" experience, definitely good place to visit as the place is always busy but u'll get seats.

restaurant name: "Fruit Folie" Tel. 840-9011 located on 3817 St-Denis (a major street that intersects Sherbrooke st)

You can't go wrong with many hotels in Mtl. a lot of very nice and well-priced compared to Toronto.

I used priceline to get a couple of nights in mid-August at the Hyatt for $80/night --> with taxes came to just under $100 per night USD --> so about $115 taxes in - don't think you can beat this for location!

I managed to get a week's stay, the week before the Civic holiday for 66$ US a night at the Hyatt through Priceline:D. Now that's a very hot deal!

One way to save if you like to cook is to stay at L'Appartement on Sherbrooke. They have apartment suites with kitchenettes. The location is very central. When I go to the Grand Prix, I stay there everytime.

Godin is awesome... good call
If you wanna stay in Westmount away a wee bit from all the madness but still close to st. catherines and sherbrooke shopping I would try the Mariott Resident Inn Westmount.

The rooms are ginormous and have full kitchens with utensils etc etc
They also have grocery shopping service and dry cleaning service and relatively cheap, secure parking.

last time i stayed there it was $129 per night for a queen sized bed. That room had the kitchen, plus a den of sorts. Roughly speaking it was about 450-500 sq foot
