Anyone can suggest a good site that reviews and compares digital cameras. I'm looking for large screen, takes regular size batteries, at least 5 mp & 3x zoom and is fast when the shutter is depressed. Was leaning towards the Nikons, Canon, Olympus brands (familiar with typical film camera brands).

Probably looking for a point & shot type.

Once I narrrow the models ... then I can watch for sales. :)

don't mean to threadjack, but does anyone have any reccommendations of digital cameras <300$ with a good zoom and that doesn't eat batteries?

Isn't it a rule of thumb that digital cameras do not produce good zoom results and the only thing worth a crap is the SLR type cameras.

For $300, I'd say go with a Canon Elph.

Panasonic, Canon, and Sony all manufacture image stabilized long optical zoom cameras. They have great range, and give good results. An older used model can probably be found for under $300.
