Everytime I turn on my computer, the Windows XP boot screen shows up, and maybe 1 or 2 bars pass by and then it keeps restarting. Even if I try safe mode it wont let me in. It lets me choose if I want to go into safe mode, last know configuration or start windows normally. Tried all 3 but still doesnt work. What is the problem? Thanks

If you have access to another computer, create this cd:
http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/
There is scandisk/chkdsk program on it that has saved me from that "reboot hell" on more than one occasion.

When you choose safe mode, does it restart after a certain filename is displayed on the screen?
kernel32.dll perhaps?

Did that happened all of a sudden or did you do something to your pc like installing a software, replaced a hardware, etc...?

Have you changed anything in the BIOS? I've had this happen when a power setting in the BIOS was changed (ACPI or something like that).

I had a problem like this with my DFI motherboard. I ended up reinstalling Windows several times, then I removed everything except the essentials.
Unplug all additional hard drives, cd/dvd roms, RAM(use only one stick if you have two or more). Also remove your sound card, if the motherboard comes with onboard sound. Also disconnect all external devices such as printers, external drive, scanners, etc.
Then rest your bios to the default settings and try again. If the problem happens again then switch your DIMMs. Also run diagnostics on your hard drive(s) and RAM
In my case, the motherboard wasn't able to detect both DIMMs properly. Once I removed one, everything booted up fine. I ended up flashing the bios and putting everything back in, and since then everything has been stable. Hope this helps.
