If no credit card is added to your paypal account but only a bank account, it allows you to make a payment via e-check. If adding a credit card you can do an instant payment via bank account and use the credit card as a backup source of funds if theyrs no money in the bank account.

Now my question is, if I add a credit card to make an instant payment through my bank account, then delete the credit card on profile, how will paypal try and take out money from my credit card if I dont have any money in my bank account? Does it still use the credit card I added after I deleted it? What happends, thanks.

You're correct. When you make an instant payment through PayPal, it adds a backup source of funding if your bank account does not have the sufficient funds. This backup is usually your credit card on the account.

After you make the payment, your credit card info will be included in the transaction as a backup source. Removing your credit card info after sending the payment will not remove the info from the transaction.

If you make a Paypal payment with an e-check, it normally takes several days (2-10) to clear. If you have insufficient funds to complete the payment, the payment will not clear.

I have received several Paypal e-checks where the payment has not cleared, and have then received a notice from Paypal that the payment had not cleared.

I know some of the buyers have then made another Paypal payment on credit card seperately. It did not appear to be an automatic charge to their credit card, as they have had to make a seperate payment again for the item.

What I don't know if is they received any other charges from their bank as they would for an NSF cheque. Knowing Paypal, I could see them cancelling your account if you were to do this with e-checks and insufficient funds, on a regular basis.
