View Full Version : Sorry, I did not write my name on my picnic bench

So a bunch of my friends (20+ people) went to Scarb. Bluffs today for a BBQ. Knowing how many ppl there will be, we show up in the morning. Found a nice spot with a BBQ. We had a killer workout carrying a picnic bench from a farther location.

Now as we are BBQing, a group kids, 2 girls 2 guys (i wont mention race, unless you really want to know) probably age 17ish just come up to our table, and sit on it. We werent sitting on the table at the time, but we had placed our food on it so ppl will know it's taken.

So we ask them politely to leave since it's our table. They go on with these stupid remarks like..
"is your name on it?", "you werent sitting on it"

We then mentioned that other people asked us first if it was taken. They didnt care, saying even had they asked first, they would sit on it regardless.

So we didnt want to end up in a fight, so we keep telling them how we've never met people like them before. And that we are completely shocked that people like them exist. we can tell 2 of their friends, had an embarassed look, which we even mentioned it to the 2 girls trying to talk back at us.

Eventually, one guy made an excuse that it was too hot at the table, and they all finally left. But completely wasted a good 20 minutes for a cause they werent going to win.

I just had to ask myself, could there be a more stupid and shameful exhibition of rudeness and common sense in kids today? We are all trying to have a good time, and clearly the table was ours. I know it's just a table, but who in their right mind would do something like this? And using stupid arguements like "your name is not on it" for somethin you cannot win is just beyond any words I can describe. I know theses people are a rarity, but it was just dissapointing I had to be a part of it.

I was just shocked that people would do this.

We even told them maybe they should goto a random family's table and sit on it. Or steal the ball that a kid was playing with. My friend asked them if a car was unlocked in the parking lot, would they sit in it if they felt like it. I just couldnt stop laughing when they relplied YES.

Then they went on some Ignore mode where they would say to eachother, "lets just ignore them".

I think they felt that they were right, and we were wrong for being rude to them. WOW

Common curtosity - ya don't sit on a picnic bench that is obviously being used by someone else. Or a group of other people near it having a picnic.

Its sad that "punks" have to screw it for the rest of them - the decent one. Unfortunately the negative is easier to remember then the positive that is being done by "kids these days".

Too bad becasue of peer pressure all of the kids stayed and didn't walk off. I am refering to the ones who appear to be embarassed. Its a shame they didn't have enough courage to stand up to their friends, smack them in the head and tell them they are idiots. Thats what i would have done.

My Two Cents.

I was just glad it ended peacefully. For a moment they were telling us that "we dont know who their friend is". Which obviously means they dont know anyone.

The whole arguement, we didnt scream or yell at them. Even as they left, we even wished them a good time at the park.

damn straight!
20+ people vs. 4 teens
should have told them to move and if they didnt, you should have made an example out of one of the guys while the rest watched:lol: that would teach them to think twice next time they decide to try to be bunch of thugs. its a win-win situation

Nah man they were 20 people, it's more like the other way around lol.

I would just take 5 of my guys and sit at the same table. Keep doing your ordinary thing and they will find themselves uncomfortable eventually lol. Since your food is already on the table, there is no place to put their stuff since your "food" already put their "names" on the table lol.

Thank you for you intelligent contribution. Unforunately your ruined what ever point you were trying to make with "this thread is stupid". If its so stupid, dont read it and don't post in it. Obviously you are looking to pick a fight with the others by being insulting and hostile. Is it really worth it to respond just to get your post count up so you aren't labled "newbie" anymore?

To the original poster, I'll bet you didn't know those kids were members here, but this guy sure sounds like one of them.

Personnally, as you cant legally beat them, you all should just have sat at the table and started eating. Just act as if they weren't there at all.

the op said that they asked politly for them to leave and even after the punks refused, he and his friends played it cool and avoided any further conflict. how did they go "pick a fight" as you state. the only thing you are right about is that you are a lurker.

You should have just brought some country music or some golden oldies and just proceded to blare it. I'll take a small leap of faith here and assume that would not have been their choice of music. Just blare it and sit down beside them. I'm sure they would have left.

It's nice being in such a free country, but sometimes stupid people are allowed to live just a little too long. Than they breed and it just gets worse.

i think by the time the coals have burned and charred to the point where cooking can be done, the grill will be more than sanitized, and a quick brush will knock any ashes from the grill that remains.

LOL, we had those grill meshes and placed them on top of the grill. We had on the menu that day:
- drumsticks, wings, salads, steak, corn, fish balls, sausages, hotdogs.

Had a great time playing frisbee, soccer, football, baseball, water balloons. It was friggin HOT tho. I was completely exhausted at the end of the day. Just came home and collapsed.. LOL

Just to clarify, it wasnt 20 of us at the time, only about 8 of us showed up at the time.

They had around 15 people, but only 4 of them came over, the rest sat at their original spot. But as the arguement went on, more and more of their fds came by to see what was going on. The 4 of them just acted as if they found a bench and started to tell the rest of them to come over.

Now the LAST THING we wanted was a fight. What part of my posts did it suggest I was picking a fight with them? It was 100% wrong for them to sit on our bench. We showed up to the park in the morning so that we can get a grill and bench. If they really wanted a bench, they should've showed up early.

They even claimed they showed up at 8AM. Now if we showed up at 11am and still got a bench, wouldnt they have easily found a bench as well? LOL

LOL! Too hot to sit at the table.

Wut a group of morons! It seems that from your story, the girls were the b*tchy ones and those guys were just idiots who didn't have the balls to keep their woman in line.

Curious though, of all the picnic tables there, some with families, some with group of friends probably just like you guys, why did they chose ur table to sit on?? Do they think you guys are push-overs or something. Like what could they possibly expect out of it, you guys just to say "I'm sorry, you guys can have the table"???? Which leads to me kinda curious, what race are you and ur friends and what race were they??

Take off your clothes, get naked, and sit next to them on the table, and pretend to be gay, while telling them you'd be more than happy to have them join you for lunch for a big juicy hot dog with extra mayo.
