Friends, RFDers, Countrymen...Lend me Yours Ears!

Since we're all thoroughbred RFDers, I wonder if you all had similar experiences in your PRE-RFD days.

List them, and let others gawk at how hopeless you really are http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/petawawa/misc/lol.gif.

My Submission:

Early 2004, I buy Rogers' "latest and coolest" cellcam at an appropriately "premium" price of $199 on a 3yr.

I go ahead to my dealer and pick one up-knowing that the sales reps there did a little quasi RFD of their ownhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/petawawa/misc/laugh.gif. Apparently a pad of $99 rebates for this new phone being pushed hard FELL IN their lap. The rep told me(*ahem*, when you get home make sure you read the manual and as it contains important information http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/petawawa/misc/lolup.gif).

The rebate worked like clockwork, and on the coming Wireless bill I saw a credit of $99., Price for phone now dropped to $99.

That's not all., two months and a half later., in true Marketing strategy Rogers drops the price to $99. I submit a Price Protection claim to my CreditCard hoping that the cut off period of 60 days post-purchase won't be much of an issue since it was only 2 weeks after the fact (fingers doubly & triply crossedhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/petawawa/misc/boxing.gif). Sure enough on Next months Credit Card bill., I see a credit of $99. By the grace of God and good Fortune, my final cost for this (at the time) amazing phone becomes ($0+taxes on $199~I assume)....$30.

Hehe., man was I giddy.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/petawawa/misc/hello.gifhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/petawawa/misc/hello.gifhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/petawawa/misc/hello.gif

In the summer of 2004 I was looking for a watch. On my vacation in South Carolina I stolled into a fossil outlet store. Ended up deciding in a top end watch that was list near $400can at the time. It was selling for $120usd, I asked the guy if I can take a look at it he took it out and there wasn't a price tag on that watch (but from the ones beside it i saw the 120$ mark) and i asked him if the price take there (one that was lying on the glass) would work. He paused for a second and agreeded by saying "yes". The tag read $59.99usd, so i got the watch for $60 :).

Back in 1999 I PM'ed a small local store in Halifax at Staples for a 13gb Fujitsu HDD, the guy said it wasn't the same drive, but gave it to me anyway. I forget how much it was, but I remember it being pretty cheap. This was before they even had the 150%.

2 years ago I nedded a Disc drive for my PC as mine was broken.
Future shop was trying to tell me in the store that they were $60 "everywhere" because they are not popular.

I had a printed ad with me from a local shop for the same xact model and also the stores phone # so they had to PM and give me the same price,

I think I ended up paying $15 instead of the reg $60, then to be even a cheaper bastad the guy opens the box and wants to make sure there are no conection cables included, on top of that he also tried to sell me some CD's to make my bill higher!

Lol, nice try!
I got my Disc drive for under $20 :)
