Are we allowed to bring our own portable gas BBQs and justhave a BBQ in the parks? Or are there certain parks that will allow this and certain parks that won't.

Every park is different. Check here for park by park info --> http://www.toronto.ca/parks/parks_gardens.htm

So if it says "picnic are - yes" that means you can have BBQ? But then again if you look at Sunnybrook there's noting under "picnic are" still I've seen people BBQ-ing there.

Just because a park has no picnic area doesn't mean you can't have a picnic there. It just means the cops can give you a ticket if you do have a picnic.

It's like speeding. Just because the speed limit is 60 doesn't mean your car can't go faster than 60.
