I've used it for plenty of other devices like watching TV, as wel as listening to songs off my phone & PC. The only drawback is you use the adapter w/ the ipod video & other devices, you wont be able to control the playlist & volume from your ipod using the headphones.

Yes they would, but the sound quality won't be too nice unless the AD2P profile is supported.

Actually, the reviews almost all point to excellent sound quality but mediocre build quality. I believe these support AD2P which gives u quite a high bandwidth for bluetooth.

To be honest with you, I'd never take CNet's reviews with more than a grain of salt. They usually make biased reviews and sometimes the pros and cons don't even fit the product. Seems better to check out engadget, PC mag, or gizmondo.

Also, I do recall seeing these headphones for sale at Staples, I can't find the iPod pair on their online website (maybe hiding stock?) but the black pair for mp3 is available. If you do a pricematch in store, you might be able to get these for around $15-20.

There are two options to connect these to your computer:

1) Use A2DP if your computer is equipped with Bluetooth and the necessary software
2) Use the bundled transmitter with the bundled earphone extension cable and connect to to your computer's audio out jack

I also use this headset with my PocketPC. All the controls work with Core Player (previous, next, play, pause).

That's what a 3.5mm driver is! Of course it would work. It works with anything with a 3.5mm audio output.

If may very well be possible to use this with a pocketpc or laptop (bluetooth-enabled) and maybe even a desktop with a bluetooth adapter.

A quick search on the www.aximsite.com forums reveals compability, and even compatibility with the buttons with some extra tweaking on the PPC's software. Sounds like a steal indeed, I was trying to figure out how to turn my fragile axim into a robust media player - this is a great workaroud (I'll just shove it in a nice case in my bag while I have full control wirelessly.

The other version (black) lacks the player controls as it would not work if your device does not support bluetooth and is not an iPod. Also, the black one comes with a more versatile plug that can be moved around on the adapter to fit most mp3 players.

Yes, most of us are aware of that, but you should do a more thorough search to point to new articles that a newer improved version of the headset has been released by Logitech to fix that problem.

I doubt that the model number has changed with the newer version, however, in the worst case that they do crack, it can be replaced by Logitech or refunded via Logitech. Most reviews point out that a simple fix is gluing the broken bands back together.

Yes, but those are refurbished and shipping kills the deal. Their low bid high shipping makes them invincible if anything goes wrong.... shipping and handling is not refundable so all you get is a few cents back if the transaction goes sour. They also require you to pay taxes.

That is only true if you need the transmitter to make your audio source bluetooth enabled. If your device already supports bluetooth, the controls may work, just like on some pocket PC (PDA).
I believe only those transmitters with bluetooth 1.2 or higher will support stereo audio data transmission profile.

Also, it is probably saving them money by selling them at this price since Logitech is probably paying a premium to get rid of these items since no one wants them anymore. (just in case you didn't know as I think initially people were writing that it'd work with any jack...i'm sure the jack will but wouldn't it look fugly if you have to insert the bluetooth module sideways so the remote control doesn't butt against your player...)

That doesn't mean its imcompatible, just means that it won't look nice having the dongle dangling at the side of your MP3 player. Also, some newer MP3 players actually have built in bluetooth support so for those people, that won't be a problem.

quite good.
Not as good obviously as a good pair of cans (not even as good as my Sennheiser 201s (which are quite exceptional for the price), but they are at least as good as the crappy ipod earbuds that come standard with your ipod. Much better as the earbuds do a very poor job of transmitting anything with a lot of base in my opinion (listening to Dazed and Confused by Led Zep)

feels OK sitting at my desk. Snug but not painfully so. I am not sure how they would feeel walking around for a few hours.

Reception:

Well, according to Amazon they have been. Reviews right up to June 26th have the problem. You would think Amazon of all places would have a redesign if it existed.

Edit: I now realize this is not the purchase date. Regardless, I'm going to hold off. If it seems too good to be true it usually is, but I'm not going to try to convince all of RFD that fact :D

I just bought the Black MP3 version to test out the sound quality. I couldn't justify buying it until I try it out first since I already have 4 headphones, not counting the ones my brother have. I just listened to it while it is still charging. I just took a listen to it while it is still charging. First impressions are not bad, I might do some critical listening after it finishes charging. I wonder if Bestbuy really have that many headphones for sale.

I am a wired headphone fanboy. I was gonna try and get the wireless sennheiser as well just to compare, but I decided not to. I might feel bad if I return both of them at the same time later on.

Oh BTW, its not really comfortable to wear for a long time, but can't complain for $30.

According to my research bluetooth has a narrower bandwidth than those true FM or IR wireless headphones, that's why none of the high end audio brands (ie. Sennheiser) have adopted bluetooth.

I think it doesn't matter what bitrate you encode your MP3s at, its about the sampling rate. But if you encode at a even lower sampling rate or lower bitrate than what you have now all you are gonna get is crappier(?) music. There's no need to re-encode your music to match BT specs, just take it as it is. It's not that bad, still enjoyable. If you want to listen to your music at the highest quality stick with wired headphones.

Umm...I don't think so, unless maybe if you compare it with the ones from the dollar store?...but as others has stated, it doesn't hurt to try it out. Try to downsample your music to 8khz or 4khz (I forgot which one) and see if its still bearable.

Sorry, I just tried it...8khz or 4khz is just unbearable and is no where close to the sound quality of the headphones. It is more like 22khz, half of the normal sampling rate 44khz. It might be some sort of measure used to prevent copying copyrighted music? It's all a CONSPIRACY :!: MUAHAHA :!: Maybe I'm messing with your minds so no one can enjoy it :twisted:

You EXCHANGE an item when it is defective and if it doesn't perform to stated specifications, that's called false advertising and I'm sure that's illegal.

Secondly,a review is subjective and is only a personal opinion. Different people have different standards. I may just as well find the sound quality adequate for my taste as easily as the next person may find it inadequate. The only way to know is to use it. But because there is no heaphone to "test drive" the only alternative is to buy it and try it.

There is no point continuing this debate. I do not think a person is breaking any ethical law because s/he is returning an item that they are not satisfied with. Apparently, the retail business agrees with me, otherwise they wouldn't have RETURN POLICIES. (Of course there are those who would buy winter tires from Costco, use it and return it after winter. Now that is unethical and abusing the system. But that is not what I'm talking about.)

Again, good/bad could be a biased opinion based on who it is coming from. (a professional review is another story) Also, if you want a good headphone, you wouldn't buy a logitech brand. You can't expect to get, for instance, Sennheiser quality with $30 headphone, let alone from Logitech. If that is the reason why your not buying this headphone, then you are barking up the wrong tree. I can vouch that most people doesn't expect the quality of this heaphone to be that great but not very poor either. But whether it meets their expectations, one can only find out if they try it.

i've read some reviews from sites, generally they say sound quality is good, but never mentioned about downgrading the sample rate...generally i find pro. reviews are not very accurate, while user reviews are most applicable to everyday usage
good example is the logitech mx5000 Bluetooth combo



Also, if you want a good headphone, you wouldn't buy a logitech brand. You can't expect to get, for instance, Sennheiser quality with $30 headphone, let alone from Logitech. If that is the reason why your not buying this headphone, then you are barking up the wrong tree. I can vouch that most people doesn't expect the quality of this heaphone to be that great but not very poor either. But whether it meets their expectations, one can only find out if they try it.

Here's a short review for anyone still interested.

I've had these for about a month and a half (purchased off of ebay). After reading the reviews and tendency to break at the top of the headband, when I got mine, I reinforced them when I received them with a thick metal wire (actually a long pegboard peg bent into an arc) and some white electrical tape. This seems to have taken the stress off of the headband (to prevent cracking) and also relieves some of the head pressure, as they can be a little tight on the head otherwise. So far, with constant daily use (I use them in my job), no cracks, likely because of the reinforcement.

I use them on both a 5g (video) iPod and a PC. They work fine, except the track controls don't work.

As far as sound quality, I have no complaints. They don't sound compressed at all.

***One tip for all the people who purchased these - (I read this somewhere else online) - they ship with an extra set of foam earpads. Take these, and stretch them over the first set, so that each ear has two sets of foam ear pads. This makes a 200% increase in the comfort level on the ears. Trust me.

well, bluetooth devices operate at the same frequency as the 2.4ghz cordless phone.. you don't hear people complaining about getting cancer from using cordless phones, so i wouldn't worry about it..

i bought it on 27th and received it on 28th, that was fast.
the package comes with a small male/female adapter for non-ipod mp3 player.
i don't have an i pod, i bought it for my zen vision M and the nokia 6620 phone.
the nokia has 1 gb mmc with a lot of my music collection on it and i thought it would connect without the bluetooth adapter, but it did not. Since i had a headphone adapter for the nokia, i attached the bluetooth adapter and voila it works superb and works fine with the zen.
pros = sound quality is good, no wires to untangle, good coverage area, works like a wireless headphone for your pc, tv, etc.
cons = too big
for those persons sitting on the fence undecided, go for it, you won't repent. had it been like $50 or $70 then i would have not recommended. i think for the price, it is a damn good deal.

From all accounts Logitech has been very good about replacing all the defective headphones.

They come with a two year warranty from logitech, and if they crap out, I am confident they will get replaced.

The adapter has a standard 3.5mm plug with a little connector to its right. They ship it with a short male/female cable in case the little ipod connector is in the way. I have to use the cable on mine (with it you can use it on everything with a standard 3.5mm plug). It's not neccessarily only for ipods. On the headsets, you can adjust volume up and down. The forward/back buttons to the next song and the play/pause buttons don't work.

Very highly unlikely that you can do this. The adapter and the headphones pair with each other and I believe only two bluetooth devices can be paired together at a time. If you tried what you are saying that you would be pairing 3 bluetooth devices together (2 headphones and 1 adapter).

No worries though, there is a solution. Buy a simple cheap headphone jack splitter so that you end up with 2 headphones jacks instead of one and then plug in BOTH of your adapters (1 for each set of headphones) and voila you are both listening to the same thing at the same time wirelessly.

Its too bad there isn't some sort of ipod to PSP remote adapter... the PSP remote control has 3 double-sided "pins" and the ipod remote control has 2 double sided pins. On the PSP, 2 of the pins are not used by the standard remote control.... if only I had the time, I'd make an adapter just to see if I could control the the PSP's pause/play/previous/next functionality.

I paired this up with my PC, and the remote functions control Windows Media Player.

Try changing the channel (if supported) on your router, that might help.

There are two options to connect these to your computer:

1) Use A2DP if your computer is equipped with Bluetooth and the necessary software
2) Use the bundled transmitter with the bundled earphone extension cable and connect to to your computer's audio out jack

I also use this headset with my PocketPC. All the controls work with Core Player (previous, next, play, pause).

You have sold me on getting one. Didn't know you can get the controls to work with TCPMP. sweet.

Mine came in yesterday afternoon.

It took less than 48 hours between the time I ordered and the time they were at my door! Quite impressive considering I chose $1.99 ground shipping. Actually here's what I did in order to save time: right after ordering online, I called their 800 number so I could pass the usual BB credit card verification right away (why do they even do this?). I had originally picked ExpressShip, but the CSR told me it was useless to pay extra b/c the item ships from Mississauga, and I'm in Ottawa. So essentially, she said it would be a waste of money since regular ground shipping would be as fast in my case. I thus saved $4.

The adapter & headphones were already charged right out of the box, so I was able to try them out right away. I am very, very satisfied with the results! The sound is decent (much better than the stock earbuds). Transmission is excellent, I can listen to my iPod 4G from anywhere in my apartment.

It's true that they are a bit of a snug fit, but I am comfortable wearing them for 2 hours without a problem. The iPod controls on the headphones work perfect.

I have also tried them with my Nano (using the stereo adapter) and they work just fine. The controls don't work however, and that's a bit annoying. But other than that they work/sound the same.

The ones I got are the grey version, som I'm not too sure if these are the ones with the "cracking" problem.

Overall quite impressed --> would rate them a strong 7.5/10

At $29, they are a steal in my opinion.

I do. Re-pair the device. (turn off and on). I found it interferes with my logitech wireless gamepads which are also 2.4Ghz.

My wireless network also drop when it's turned on as well. The 2.4Ghz band is extremely crowded in my house with 3 routers, 2 gamepads, 2 mx900 mice, 2 bt adapters and 2 headsets. If I shut off all the other stuff, it's clear.

I felt the headphones to be uncomfortable after a bit of use.

maybe this is why the have reduced the price so much. the design and comfort isn't too great, or should i say it fails in comparison to other wireless headphones.

If you were to google the model number, you'd find many amazon, cnet etc users who have bought the headphones in the past, and the terrible reviews for it. After a month or two of use, the back headband cracks. Then it breaks; eventually the vital circuitry and wiring inside also fails and the headphones are rendered useless. I have posted about this earlier in the thread.

Update on the comfort issue: It turns out I was wearing them the wrong way! I was wearing them like in the picture below that was posted on the 3rd page of this thread. They're a lot more comfortable wearing them the opposite way. I'm going to keep them now.

I mostly use them for indoors when I'm working out in my home gym or cleaning the house. I wouldn't leave the house with em!! I have dropped my ipod enough times in the kitchen and the wires get tangled up all the time.

I solved the problem I had. I basically let the transmitters charge through 2 cycles. Ie. when the charge led goes out, I unplugged them and plugged them back in. They work fine now, except now they're a bit uncomfortable on my massive head, until i find that perfect spot where i cant feel it at all. unless my head is losing circulation...

There seems to be two versions of this set of Logitech headphones. The one that appears to break or crack on the headband is all white. The better version is mostly grey and hopefully, does not break as easily.

Edit: I think the reason why it might not work is because I'm using the Broadcom BT version whereas TCMP has the Widcomm BT Audio support.

Here's what you have to do:
1) Follow crash613's original post (with some minor changes)
here is a rough draft of the tutorial.. Please feel free to comment and ask questions for anything unclear. it will help me with the final tutorial. i will polish it up, and add pictures, and submit it to Chris for the tutorial page.
it actually looked alot better in Word when i wrote it with proper indntation on all the bullets... but hey, like i said, this is a rough draft


1) The first thing you need to do is remove all Paired devices

a) To do this, simply click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and open select Bluetooth manager, from there click TOOLS --> paired devices.
b) Use the remove button to remove any devices shown

2) Soft reset
3) Locate the file pda2k_broadcomcorp_btupdate.cab on the internet. Google search it.
4) Install pda2k_broadcomcorp_btupdate.cab on your PDA

a) Copy it to an SD card or copy to main memory using activesync
b) Double click on the file in explorer, on the PDA, to run it.

5) Soft reset
6) Locate the file Broadcom 1.6.0 0600 Updated.rar

a) un-rar the file and copy contents to the PPC windows/ directory

i) RAR is a compression format like ZIP. Do a search if you need a program to open this file on your computer

b) With you PDA connected to activesync .. Click the explore button.
c) Navigate to the windows directory.
d) Copy the contents of the Broadcom 1.6.0 0600 Updated.rar to that directory

7) When you perform step 6 the files btceavif.dll and bttrayCE.exe will not copy because they are in use.

a) What I did was.
i) Copy the 2 files to an SD card
ii) Re-boot in safe mode (must have pocket plus installed)
iii) To re-boot in safe mode press the reset button.. Wait about 2 seconds and press it again. This tricks the SPB program into thinking that the re-boot didn’t work, and it offers you the option to boot into safe mode. This keeps most drivers from loading and gives you a complete blank today screen
iv) Once in safe mode you should be able to replace the 2 files with no problems. If you want, copy the originals somewhere else first. Just incase
b) What I heard also works (no need for pocket plus)
i) Turn off Bluetooth
ii) Go to windows\startup on your PDA and remove the BTCETray.lnk (this will keep it from loading after soft reset ( you might want to copy this *.lnk to another directory, so you can replace it once you are done.
iii) Soft reset
iv) Find the 2 files btceavif.dll and bttrayCE.exe in the \windows directory of you PDA
v) It will not let you write over them, but it will let you rename them.
vi) Re-name them btceavif.dl_ and bttrayCE.ex_ or something that you will remember
vii) Copy the files that you stored on your SD card to the \windows directory
viii) After a soft reset you can delete btceavif.dl_ and bttrayCE.ex_ if you want.
ix) Replace the BTCETray.lnk that you copied to another directory.

8) Soft reset
9) In BT manager Find HP Headphones and pair them with password "0000"

a) That is 4 zeros.
b) To do this you need to hold down the round button on the headphone for approx 10 seconds.
c) At this point the headphones will alternate red and blue blinking
d) It is in discoverable mode
e) On the PDA go to Bluetooth manager
f) Click new
g) The first option should be High Quality Audio setup
h) Choose that --> next
i) It will find the headphones “BT-Headphones” choose them --> next
j) The two will pair and you will be asked to put in the 4 zeros
k) Save the shortcut
l) You should now be connected

10) To re-connect

a) Just turn on your headphones
i) Hold the round button for approx 3 seconds
ii) Go to Bluetooth manager and press and hold the “high quality audio on BT-Headphones” icon
iii) Choose connect

2) To enables the Pause and Next/Previous Track buttons, grab:

Is this with XP? I got it to work, with my Logitech BT dongle (from the MX5000 kbd/mouse combo)...

I'm not familiar with the Bluesoleil driver, but does it let you explore the services on a device? If so, check if it finds a High Quality Audio service on your "BT Stereo Headset"... also assuming you are using Windows XP and Windows Media Player, go into Tools>Options>Devices>Speakers and select the BT High Quality Audio device as your output source instead of default or your current sound card. Restart WMP and it should work.

Got it to work, finally. I uninstalled everything and re-installed again. It works with XP, Bluesoleil 1.6 and the $6.99 bluetooth dongle from Ledshoppe. I paired the devices and this the time music, pause/play and forward/reverse buttons worked (played with media player). I don't know why, but it works this time.

How to reinforce the Logitech Bluetooth Headphones for just 5 bucks. I got two pairs of Logitech Bluetooth headphones from woot at an incredibly low price ($25), one is the model for iPods (white and grey) and the other one is the model for MP3 players (black), which hasn't arrived yet. I read all the comments from users about these headphones breaking in the middle of the headband and decided not to take any risk and do some pre-emptive reinforcement of the headband. Here is what I did: I paid a visit to my closest Dollar Tree store and bought a pair of cheap no-brand under-the-neck headphones, a pair of reding glasses with a flat metal frame (make sure the arms are flat), a roll of grey duck tape, one tube of epoxy and a pair of pliers. I used the pliers to cut the arms of the reading glasses and remove the plastic pieces that go over the ears so I was left with only the flat metal piece, which I then curved slightly with the pliers. I also cut the headband off the cheap headphones. I then wrapped some duck tape over the logitech headphones's headband, applied some epoxy on both sides, then put the curved metal pieces on each side, let the epoxy dry and wrapped it up in duck tape, then put more epoxy and the plastic headband from the cheap headphones, then wrapped it up again with duct tape. How to reinforce the Logitech Bluetooth Headphones for just 5 bucks. I got two pairs of Logitech Bluetooth headphones from woot at an incredibly low price ($25), one is the model for iPods (white and grey) and the other one is the model for MP3 players (black), which hasn't arrived yet. I read all the comments from users about these headphones breaking in the middle of the headband and decided not to take any risk and do some pre-emptive reinforcement of the headband. Here is what I did: I paid a visit to my closest Dollar Tree store and bought a pair of cheap no-brand under-the-neck headphones, a pair of reding glasses with a flat metal frame (make sure the arms are flat), a roll of grey duck tape, one tube of epoxy and a pair of pliers. I used the pliers to cut the arms of the reading glasses and remove the plastic pieces that go over the ears so I was left with only the flat metal piece, which I then curved slightly with the pliers. I also cut the headband off the cheap headphones. I then wrapped some duck tape over the logitech headphones's headband, applied some epoxy on both sides, then put the curved metal pieces on each side, let the epoxy dry and wrapped it up in duck tape, then put more epoxy and the plastic headband from the cheap headphones, then wrapped it up again with duct tape. This adds three additional layers (two metal and one plastic) to the headband. Bad thing is, the headphones are now quite bulky on the headband, but I can live with that. They seem to be going for about $25us + $13.95us for shipping. It seems you never see the black ones on sale they are still 199 at Stooples. Yep, the black ones lack the controls on the headphones and only contains the volume controls. The adapter is more versitile and the 3.5mm plug can be moved around a bit to accommodate different mp3 players. However, the official statement from Logitech is that these still suffer the crappy headband issue.

This seems like it might be for win2003 and not windows mobile 5. can anyone confirm or provide the instructions for wm5.

I can see how the band might break over time as it seems to be a stiff plastic with less flex than other behind the ear headphones I have. I guess we'll see.

I cut out the little connector next to the 3.5mm jack on the the Logitech adapter to connect directly without the male/female extension cable (kissed my warranty goodbye while doing this). I don't plan on getting an iPod. Now it's basically the same as the black adapter on the MP3 model. Everything still works fine. One note, the player needs to offer a flat surface to connect all the way without the cable, if not it might not play stereo sound.

My Zire 72 is slanted and unfortunately can not connect all the way without the provided cable. Using the adapter, control volume only works (same as with the extension cable). Every control of the headphones works when connected through a USB bluetooth dongle. The connection is much stronger using the Logitech adapter compared to the LedShoppe USB dongle. Thus a farther range before loosing the sound.

I have two more on the way. Received my postal tracking numbers. Thanks again OP. :D

Jeffbot (or anybody else with the same transmitter problem), how did you finally get it to power up? I've charged it twice, tried to reset it, and it just won't work. Any help is appreciated.

I solved the problem I had. I basically let the transmitters charge through 2 cycles. Ie. when the charge led goes out, I unplugged them and plugged them back in. They work fine now, except now they're a bit uncomfortable on my massive head, until i find that perfect spot where i cant feel it at all. unless my head is losing circulation...

They didn't have the item instore, so they took it, shipped it, fixed it, and within about 2 business days, I got a call from them telling me to pick it up.

I do prefer taking exchanged and defectives back to the store, instead of shipping, even though I'm pretty sure they reimburse the shipping charge.

As for the dude with the broken power connector, do you think your outlet could have funky holes?

I know that my battery charger before did the same thing, and it turned out that nothing ever fit snug into the outlet, so it had nothing to do with the charger.

Either try a different outlet, or plug a crappy clock in, set the time, and see if it ever ends up flashing 12AM on it...

it isn't defective... your reciever needs to be BT 2.0 with stereo headphone support... most cell phones have BT 2.0 but no support for stereo devices.

If you have the MX5000 keyboard and mouse set it will connect, and work properly.

The only cell phone with this support is the SE K800i (K790)... but don't quote me. Just do some research.

Got mine today, guess it was good to have low expectations because so far they strike me as good. Sound quality's not horrible, nice range. Only minor complaint is the connector doesn't quite fit on my ipod with its skin on, but its not really the headphones' fault.

Sorry, my version is in french, so the terms might not be correct

1a) Go to services of bluesoleil and be sure the headset icon and sound volume icon service is started when bluesoleil starts up. Select your sound card when configuring the volume icon service.
1b) press the power button of the headphones until it blinks red and blue. (around 5 to 10 seconds)
2) click on the orange ball of bluesoleil to discover your headset
3) once it's discovered, pair the devices by right clicking on the headset icon and select the menu option to pair them
4) password is 0000 when prompted to enter it
5) right click on the heaset to select connect
6) use Windows media player and all the functions of the headphones should work.

I believe these are constantly in the $30 range in the US, so its just a matter of time before the drop prices again on these, probably from other retailers as well. The reason why they are kept in the $200 range is because people read the reviews which say these are crap in build quality and so these are probably the first batches that never sold. Logitech might have swap the old with the new (grey handband) ones and gave em to Bestbuy at the new lowered price.

Hold the connect button for around 10 seconds until the light flashes blue / red. Then it's discoverable.
Passcode is 0000 for pairing with other bluetooth devices.

it takes awhile to get comfortable with it...you need to fiddle around with it at your ears...for me, there is just one position that fits nicely....any movement to left/right/up/down and it's sorta discomforting with ears hurting after awhile...

Apparently, they figured the supply was high and demand was low (bad reviews) so they decreased their prices to meet the market equilibrium, now by the same logic they should decrease their price. I charged twice. I have posted the problem when I charged it at first time.

The second time, I charged 10+ hours, and it was "full", but when I was using

I just got them.

These do not sound better than the stock iPod headphones to me. Do they suck? Nope. Some people may prefer its sound over the stock iPod headphones (and hence, find that they sound better).

I am very particular about treble, clarity and detail. Detail and clarity are not there. It does sound more open, but I wouldn't call it better soundstage. At the same time, it sounds more "radio-ish." The bass IS decent though.

I'm giving them to someone in the family and will stick to my Shures. Great deal for only $30!

Sorry, my version is in french, so the terms might not be correct

1a) Go to services of bluesoleil and be sure the headset icon and sound volume icon service is started when bluesoleil starts up. Select your sound card when configuring the volume icon service.
1b) press the power button of the headphones until it blinks red and blue. (around 5 to 10 seconds)
2) click on the orange ball of bluesoleil to discover your headset
3) once it's discovered, pair the devices by right clicking on the headset icon and select the menu option to pair them
4) password is 0000 when prompted to enter it
5) right click on the heaset to select connect
6) use Windows media player and all the functions of the headphones should work.

With the LedShoppe dongle, the range is reduced greatly. I would think your sound cutting out is due to a weak connection. You are probably getting close to your maximum range. When using the Logitech adapter, the range is much greater before you start to loose the connection. I would say almost about twice as much as with the dongle.

If it's doing this right beside the computer, try uninstalling and reinstalling the bluesoleil drivers once more. Update WinXP with the service pack 2 if possible.

I've got the the headphones paired up, but I'm stuck trying to get audio out of them :confused: I put the settings to auto-startup, and my playback device is already selected as my sound card. i have used them a bit in the house over the week and was favorable impressed.

Not so much on the walk.

I found that if i had my ipod clipped to my pocket like i normally do, that the headphones cut out quite a bit.

When I switched them to my belt so the ipod itself didnt move around as much, it was markedly better but still cut out on occasion, (such as when I had to walk faster up a hill)

I guess these would be useles for running or working out unless you could place the ipod on a stationary surface.

Still keeping them for $30 but just my 2 cents

You should be using the same OS as me, 10.4.7, you should see it. Did you follow the procedure suggested in this thread? Hold the power on your headphone until it starts flashing blue & red? It took on my about 7 or 8 seconds...but hold it, it does change to that.

After that, in your bluetooth setup assistant, select Headset and try again...it does find the headset and install. But it just doesn't work afterthat.

Mine shipped last Tuesday. The status been in sortation plant for the longest time. I believe even last night it was in Ontario. Surprisingly, it arrived at my door today. - Vancouver, BC

Anyways, I'm using it right now. They sound and feel's okay. Using it with my laptop, I got the BT drivers A2D* installed, but didn't need it since the audio BT jack provided did the stuff. Will try the BT dongle later, perhaps I can get better range.

Worth $36 shipped, not $200 though. If they have these on sale again, will probably buy some more, parents seems to really like it.

Received my 3 sets yesterday and they're working great. They seem to come charged, was able to use them on the bus ride home no problem. The transmitter worked plugged into a normal MP3 player with the small (4") extension cable, and got about 25' away in the grocery store with a reliable signal.

Next I downloaded Softick Audio Gateway 1.7 (http://www.softick.com/bluetooth-audio/) onto my Treo 650. To get the Treo to find the device hold the connect button on the headset for about 10 seconds until it flashes red/blue, then find the device with the bluetooth app on the Palm and enter the 0000 security code. Ptunes works great, all controls work well and if i get a call the music pauses, I use it as a regular phone, then the music starts when the call disconnects again. TCPMP sent audio and volume worked but I couldn't pause or switch tracks. So the transmitter is not needed but the range is only about 10' with the Palm, no problem if its in your pocket or backpack.

They do seem more stiff than other behind the head headphones so I'm being carefully. Upside down does feel more comfortable and isn't that big a deal control wise.

Like most others have said, great for $30 but not worth $200.

Now I'm just waiting for my Logitech Harmony remote.

I got mine too...plugged into my iPod it covers up the hold button though, which I don't like. I have to agree it's more comfortable upside-down (basically just a bit looser), but regular side up would probably be better for jogging or other stuff where it could fall to the ground, since it's supposed to hook on top of your ears. Also you have to turn the receiver and headphones on and off, holding each power button for 3-4 seconds. This could be a minor nuisance if you use them frequently and for a short time.

I'll have to try it at the gym later, the fact it comes with a short extension cable (like 3 inches) to turn it into a universal wireless headphones makes it pretty versatile.

Got mine, and I would basically agree with almost everything that has been said.

Good sound for $30. Noticed dropouts on my walk as well. The adapter does not fit over a skin. Even when I removed the skin, it doesn't seat very nicely. The adapter is very bulky for an accessory. Wearing them backwards is much more comfortable, but you are making sacrifices (reverse controls and inputs).

Overall, as long as they don't crack, I am happy.

To be more comfortable I find they need to be worn lower and slightly in front of the ear. Similar to these creative headphones in the picture. If its centered over the ear it feels like the ears are being crushed.

i know its old news but these headphones are great for the price.... i just opened them up this weekend and with the adapter (and included extension cable) it works for any device with a 2.5mm audio jack. i also got it paired with my dell axim x50v without the adapter.... just need to download this driver (link can be found at aximsite.com). i can also use the next/prev buttons when using windows media player but not other players... i'm not a sound fanatic but it doesn't have any static so in my books its way better than the 900mhz ones i have.

the only negatives i found is that the range is not that good when going through floors/walls and the uncomfort if its not in a good position around your ears.

but hell.... for 30 bucks i'm not complaining

I was very careful with the second one but unluckily it still cracked at the back and eventually won't even turn on because the crack was getting bigger and probably lost connection. Maybe my head is too wide?!? :mad:
So I called Logitech again, and they said they will send me a 3rd one. I waited 3 months this time and still havn't received it. So I called them again and they said they don't have it in stock, and suggest I send the broken ones in for a refund. They admit it was a design problem and the bands would eventually break.
So I spent like $15 to send the broken headphones back to their US address and its been 2 months now, I still havn't receive my refund...

Mine is a grey band and it's cracked after 2 weeks. I went to BB to exchange it and they said they didn't have any instock. I'm holding on to mine for now and waiting till the have one in stock so I can exchange it. Alternatively, I'll return it for a refund when it gets close to the 30 days limit.

I tired that before. Its hard to fix it with duct tape, after you taped it, because the band is still flexible, the crack will eventually grow bigger and lose connectivity, making it unusable at all. If you really wanna fix the crack I think you need some kind of reinforcement (eg. a piece of curved metal in the shape of the band, and tape the metal against the band).
However I wouldn't recommend it though... its hard to find the perfect shape of reinforcement and do a good job, so if you tried to fix it once and it breaks again, just return the thing for money...

nope... i did super glue + metal + duct tape... it lasts for 2 more weeks but breaks again... the tape will eventually get loose, and the super glue will crack open again... (maybe i have a big head... =(

You have to call their service number which can be found on their website (the 416 number), and probably wait around 45 minutes before you get connected to a rep, then tell them you headphone is broken and want a refund, they will ask you to take out the cover on one of the ear pad and read them the serial number. After that, they will give you a case number and you have to write this down on your recipt and fax it to them. Also you have to mail your headphone to their US address with tracking which will probably cost you around 13 bucks. After that it will take around 6-8 weeks for your refund check to come and you have to call them if it doesn't. I mailed mine 2 months ago and it should have arrived a already (I check the tracking number). But still waiting for the refund and didn't bother to call them cuz I don't wanna wait 45 minutes again. So good luck getting yours! :lol:

After the crack (which of course happend approx 36 days after purchase) I call BB to see what I can do.

The girl says its beyond 30 days so she cant send me an RMA for return but that a store might do an exchange at their discretion. This is after I point out that the product is defective.

So I call my local BB (Downsview in Toronto) and they say they have stock on the computer but cant find any items in Store. I then speak to the manager (George) who is extremely nice and helpful. He says he will personally look into the phantom stock and get back to me.

He calls back within 90 mins to say he hasn't located a unit but will continue to see what he can do.

I then find stock (supposedly in Miss. at Heartland). I verify with the manager that they will do the exchange outside the 30 period (no probs) and have the item put on hold.

I head out to a patio to drink beer and eat hot wings (cuz what else would you do when its 35 C in Toronto). I get home shortly b4 9, and lo and behold there is a message from BB. From the Heartland store; do I really want these headphone cuz someone else wants to buy them AND ITS THE LAST PAIR.

I call back and assure them that yes I want the headphones and i will be in to get them tomorrow.

First thing in the AM I check with George at Downsview and still no luck, so I decide to bite the bullet and drive over to Miss and get the phones from Heartland. I call Heartland AGAIN to assure that the headphones are on hold (they are) and that i am coming to get them.

i haul ass out to Miss. and sure enough they dont have the headphone put away. They then produce the black NON-ipod phones (which I dont want anyway b/c they dont work with my 4g IPOD) but the sales guy realizes right away they arent the same as the ones I am returning.

At this point I get the manager involved (Billy also very nice and helpful) and complain how BB is screwing me over, and how they have obviously sold these phones instead of holding them for me. In fact they sold them THE NIGHT B4. Bastards

After some discussion, Mng suggests that since they still have them on the web site, that I order them for $200, then when they come he will refund me the $200 and do the switch.

Fair enough but i have no interest in going back to Heartland if i can avoid it, so I suggest that maybe the mngr at Downsview will do the same for me. Would he call him up?

He calls and as it turns out George has found me a pair of phone st Downsview. They are on hold with my name on them (where have i heard that b4)

So I haul ass back to TO (after a car fire on the 401 turns it into a parking lot) get to Downsview and find...... they cant find the ON HOLD PHONES. George has gone home of course, and the steam is coming out of my ears like a frickin cartoon.

15 mins later the phones are located (hidden under the managers counter) the swap is made, and off i go.

We will see how long these ones last.


Alls well that ends well so far but hardly worth the frickin hassle. If these ones bust I am taking the refund and be done with it.

Sadly i really like the phones and have been quite happy with the product.

Logitech will warrant, BB will warrant, they will crack if you're not careful, people love them, good price. My friend has a pair, and he loves them, I'm picking up a pair right now.

These headphones also work on any A2DP-enabled bluetooth device. I use these with my laptop's internal bluetooth. Works perfect. Can't fault these headphones at all. Although if you got a big head like me, it kinda clamps down on my head a bit too hard :lol: But that's the problem with these kind of headphones and not this particular model.

It's an extension cord that's about 6" long. The adapter will hang from your Nano or Video and only the volume controls will work.

BB will not warrant these headphones...jackasses... They say that if the band is broken it is either from misuse or else product defect, neither are covered by BB. If it is a product defect you have to go to Logitech.

FYI, I got these paired up on my BT laptop and they sound great. FWIW, as another poster pointed out, these should be worn more forward on the ears. That fits the angle of the design better and lessens the stress on the band. I found them very comfortable for the last few hours.

I tried sliding them to a "more conventional" position and found that position would make it uncomfortable (also puts alot more stress on the band).

Well, my headphone is still working. I'm going to put off sending it back to Logitech for now. It's a 2 year warranty and I paid with my CC which adds another 1 year warranty, so I have 3 years total warranty. The rep said they will have a newer model out next year, so I'm hoping if I report it then, they can send me the newer model. (Possible?? or wishful thinking?) I put super glue into the crack just now and will reinforce the band with steal wire and tape. Hopefully that will hold it together and prevent the crack from widening.

It's a well known problem that the headband on these headphones are likely to crack. My set cracked after only two days. Unfortunately these headphones have been discontinued due to the problem, and a money back offer is all you'll get from Logitech. This is a shame considering how well they perform (headband aside). They are a really good quality set of headphones with bluetooth that can't be beat for the price. However I have a very robust and permanant fix for this problem for anyone that wants to do this. It is very easy and cheap and you will end up with headphones that will last you forever. Here's a review I posted on Amazon that contains all the details you need to fix your set. Hope it helps you people out...

I would give this 5 stars but because of having to repair the headset myself it looses a star. Let me start by saying that these headphones work great. They are discontinued now so jump on your favorite auction site and buy a brand new set for $40 like I did. Buy a couple of sets if you can while the getting is good. Even with the faulty headband they are well worth the money because I will tell you how to repair or prevent them from breaking in the first place. The sound quality is top notch and nothing beats having wireless headphones...

So anyways onto the repair... Even if your headband has broken in two this will still work. It will only take a little patience and $5.00 of materials from a local hobby shop.

Materials:
- 3/4 inch or 1 inch nylon tape (all hobby stores that have RC Plane materials have this)
- CA (cyanoacrylate) the stuff that superglue is made of but I recommend getting some real CA at any hobbystore. Get the "thin" stuff.
- Saran Wrap. yes the sandwich stuff...
- Scissors

Side note: I call the nylon tape "tape", but it is really just a ribbon of nylon. There is no sticky stuff on the "tape"

1) First if your headset has snapped completely in two use a little CA to mend it as best as you can. It doesnt need to be perfect but just mended enough that it is technically one piece again and headphones are seperated to where you want them to be.

2) Next cut off a 6 inch piece of the nylon tape and using a VERY small amount of CA, tack the top edge of the tape to the BACK of the band where the crack has occured (which should be exactly in the middle of the band in most cases). Use just enough so it sticks as you don't want too much CA getting into the ribbon. It should be hanging down now in the back like a tail. Note: Use the saran wrap to help hold the tape in place as you are tacking it in place as you DO NOT want this stuff to get on your fingers...

3) Once the CA has dried enough and the tape is stuck, wrap the tape under and around the band one time until the tape is hanging down again in the back. Pull the tape VERY tight and use a little bit of CA at the top to keep it in place.

4) Wrap around one more time and tack it again one more time making sure to always keep the tape tight when you tack it. You should have wrapped the tape around twice at this point. If your set was broken completely in two you may want to wrap one or two more times and at a slight angle to cover a little more area. When done, use some scissors to cut off the excess tape at a point so the cut end of the tape is at the back.

5) Now you can saturate the whole band of tape with CA. Use the saran wrap to press down the cut end of the tape as you glue and it will end up perfectly flat. This is an incredibly strong fiberglass patch similar to carbon fiber. The patch will have a very small profile (not that thick) and be similar in color to scotch tape, however it could easily be painted to match the color of the headband if desired.

There you have it. This is a permanent and SOLID fix and only takes about 5 minutes. I'm wearing mine right now after i just fixed them. Also you can do this (and I strongly suggest you do) to a set that has not cracked yet, because they WILL NOT CRACK if you do. Just do it exactly in the middle of the band.

Hope this helps all you fellow people that had problems with the headband. They work too well to just give up on them. If you have never done something like this before you can practice on something like a pencil. Break it in half, then mend it with the above procedure. Once you get the hang of it go for it.

I went ahead and just wrapped the entire headband anyways. No point in waiting for further cracks. If anyone reads this far down this post I recommend just wrapping the whole band from one end to the other as it's the safest bet. I'm pretty confident now that I will never have a problem with the band at this point.

A few things to note:
1. Don't reinforce the part of the band that your ears will be touching. That will feel annoying I guarantee it. It's not necessary to cover the ENTIRE band, just from a little below where the band starts to curve to the other side will be good enough...
2. Don't rush. Take your time and only wrap the tape one revolution at a time. At each wrap just pull tight and dab a little CA at the top to keep it in place. Go all the way around then saturate the whole thing after your done. Watch your eyes when using CA, it's really strong stuff...
3. Keep the tape at a 45 degree angle as you wrap. Try to not let the tape deviate too much from that. Always try to keep the edge of the previous wrap at the center of the current wrap...
4. After your done you'll probably have annoying little sharp edges. You can use some light sand paper if you want to smooth those out...
5. I recommend seperating the earpieces in some kind of rig while you do this. Keep the earpieces seperated about the width they are when they are on your head. I took a couple of paper cups and taped them together at a width that was appropriate so the headphones could just rest on that while I did the wrapping...
6. I still recommend reinforcing the center just a little bit more than the rest just to be sure. Before you start just take a small piece of tape and wrap it once or twice at the very center like in my original instructions. Then wrap the whole thing...
7. This procedure will now take about 30-45 minutes not 5
8. Have fun! This is cool stuff, so enjoy it. Do it yourself projects can be a lot of fun so don't treat it like a chore.

I appear to have answered my own question. This very silly fix (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00541574&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN) actually did the job:

Forward / Next button of the Bluetooth Headphone fails to track forward to the next media in the play list
From the Control Panel, open the Sound and Audio Device, double-click on Sounds and Audio Devices, select Audio tab, deselect "Use only default devices," then select the same box, and exit out.

In other words, click that checkbox a couple of times, make sure sure it's selected when you exit, and the track controls will magically work in Windows Media 10 (I'm on XP SP2).

Funnily enough, now the track controls work even when the audio stream doesn't (like after it goes to sleep, and needs to be connected again). Anyhow, hope this helps someone.

No, to use the controls you need to use an ipod. You can only use the volume adjustment.

I got mine for about the same price and I like them. Not that many people know that you don't need an ipod to use them. It's just like having wireless headphones for anything, but its better with the ipod with the remote-like controls. I think they feel sturdy, but they're a bit tight and are a tad heavy, but for 30$ you can't go wrong. They sound just like other headphones in their pricerange, but they're not worth their MSRP of 200$.

Sorry to correct you, but you're mistaken. I've used the track control and pause/play features on both my Axim x50v and my laptop today. These headphones use the standard Bluetooth A2DP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A2DP#Bluetooth_profiles) profile, which works with any other device that supports that profile (laptops, pdas, phones..).

The only reason these are 'iPod' headphones is that the little brick that plugs into the iPod has the proprietary iPod data connector. It's really just a Bluetooth transmitter that is able to offer A2DP communication between the iPod and the headphones. Junk that transmitter, and you can still use the headphones with any of the devices I listed above.

Amazing... :) (So this means the headphone support AVRCP profile, right?)

Guys, be freaking careful with these headphones. If they snap, which is alot easier than you think, it's game over. If it happens to be a partial snap, charging might not be possible anymore in which case you might not be able to use them unless plugged in...or worse, not at all.

It doesn't work that way. You can't ASK them to do something that is not in their system (on the tech support computer screen on their end). Wait for another year and they will offer to replace your headphones with the new one. Shipping is reimbursed for my previous exchanges though. Maybe they changed that now.

Just wanted to update this (even though no one will ever see it in this forgotten forum) :)

So my headband cracked and after having to call Best Buy a number of times to get my receipt (my account was locked for some reason), I finally was able to send them off. Anyway, a few weeks later I get a voice mail asking if I wanted to get the new FreePulse wireless headphones instead of having the cheque issued. The cheque was for about $40, whereas the headphones sell for $90 US I think. I said send the headphones, and they arrived yesterday! I haven't tried them out yet, but the reviews have been pretty good.

Just an update on the exchange program.

I had purchased 3 of these headsets and emailed their support dept and they said the policy was now to replace them with the Logitech Free Pulse headphones. He needed the reciept, model number etc etc, and some pictures of the headphones. I got him all that information, and they he said that they required the headphones to be sent in, and they will send me 3 of the new ones. I just got confirmation that the new ones have been sent out. One of the 3 that I had that were cracked, I had fixed with the fibreglassing solution and they were fine with that.

Just an update on the exchange program.

I had purchased 3 of these headsets and emailed their support dept and they said the policy was now to replace them with the Logitech Free Pulse headphones. He needed the reciept, model number etc etc, and some pictures of the headphones. I got him all that information, and they he said that they required the headphones to be sent in, and they will send me 3 of the new ones. I just got confirmation that the new ones have been sent out. One of the 3 that I had that were cracked, I had fixed with the fibreglassing solution and they were fine with that.

You can try one of 2 things:

Email them or call them. I called first, didn't like the fact that I would send it back for a refund since shipping them basically set me back one pair, so I waited. Anyways, the 2nd time I just emailed since I can track stuff a lot easier that way. They are very quick to respond. Anyways, here's a link:

Nope, they aren't even doing refunds anymore when I called in a few days ago. They said an exchange is the only way to go. I'm glad I managed to refund my Logitech MP3 wireless headphones a month ago as I paid $179.99 + tax on those.

I'm using my FreePulse headphones now, and I actually like them more than the original ones. They are more comfortable in my opinion, and less bulky. The controls didn't do much for me since I use a Nano anyways so it didn't work with that anyways. However, I did have it paired with my Treo 650, and the controls were handy for that.

Audio wise, they're pretty much the same. To those who said that the metal band was too tight, I'd disagree. I have a fairly wide head as it is, and I found that the cracking was a welcome adjustment since it alleviated the pressure. The new metal ones have way more flex, and aren't as tight. If you have cracked headphones, and don't need the "controls" I'd definitely send yours in and get the freepulse ones. Word of advice, just sent in your headphones and adapter. Keep the charger as it's the same charger, and I got away with not sending in my charging cords for the old ones.

I used Canada PostSmall Packet Ground via Paypal to make it cheaper. Using Paypal shipping also gets you free tracking for the package where as Canada Post (post office) small packet doesn't even offer tracking.

You would have to do a pay for auction trick to use Paypal though.

I actually don't even notice the band at all. That's probably because the headset is lighter, and the rubber hooks on the ears hold it up.

You pop them off by force. They send the new ones out ONLY after they have received your old ones and I was told they don't even check the old ones.

At the end of my conversation with Logitech, the CSR went on to say that once the new headphones arrived, I should destroy the PID on my old headphones. He had previously said to mail in the old phones, so I asked whether I was supposed to mail them in or not. His reponse: "I didn't have my coffee today. Of course you're supposed to send them in. I have a hold on the shipment until they're returned."

They didn't ask for a copy of the receipt, only asked where I got the headphones but I don't know if this was partly because I have a warranty account setup with Logitech from a previous exchange. In the end I still send in a copy of the receipt so I wouldn't have problems. I mailed my first pair back about a month and a half ago, back then they said they would reimburse me for the purchase amount (around $200) but I still haven't received my cheque.... I was told that they had to clear the amount from the retailer I bought the headphones from before they can reimburse me...

I received my new pair of freepulses headphones on jan 17. It took less than a week. They are very nice headphones.

The pros: they are lighter, there's a mute function on the headphones, the volume ajusts by pressing and holding the volume control as opposed to pressing many times, there's a bass boost on the headphones, they look much cooler than the old ones, the transmitter comes with many custom fit adapters for most popular ipods and a generic one.

The cons: Does not control the forward and back on the playlist only volume, the rubber ear loop feels bizzare sometimes.

Yep, but only if the PID on your headphones were produced within the last 2 years. They didn't ask me to send in a copy of my receipt for the exchange. The bad thing is that they sent me one with a busted transmitter. The transmitter plug on the freepulse feels really flimsy and mine was wiggly and only transmitted part of the sound frequency of the sound source. Using a bluetooth adapter, the headphone works fine though. Logitech is making me send it back to them AGAIN on my expense although they were DOA. I told them I only needed a replacement on the transmitter yet they insist I send everything back. Shipping for RMA has cost me around $20 now although their customer service on the phone was pretty good.
