I have a C.A.I. and would now like to clean the filter for it. I went to Cdn Tire and purchased a K&N Air filter Recharge kit. This is my FIRST time cleaning it so please bare with me :)
Im checking out the instructions and the illustration shows an air filter like so...

The filter I have looks exactly like this.

Will the K&N Air Filter recharge kit be ok for the filter that I have? I just want to make sure before doing so since it mentioned "can be rolled or soaked in a shallow pan of K&N cleaner. Due to the shape of my filter, im wondering if it's safe to simply dunk the whole thing for a few seconds and then remove it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Same principal for your filter. In a shallow pan, fill up to beyond the level of the filter pleats, soak the pleats with the cleaner, roll it around, tap the pleats to shake off any large particles. Take a hose, flow water from the inside to get rid of any of the other dirt and particles, blow out with air (from inside) make sure it is dry and spray lightly with the oil getting oil on all surfaces of the pleats. Lightly... this is not a case of more is better.

It seems like the instructions from the cleaning kit manual. did you copy for there? :D
Just take out the filter, sweep off all the dust, apply the cleaning application, use a water hose, gentily flow the water on the filter and leave it, wait it dry, then re-oil it...and put it back.
The hardest part is to take the filter out....especially when the CAI is low at the bottom of the car and the car is dropped, so you can't take it out underneath. (at least that's my case, gotta find a empty space in the engine bay to pull the filter out. )
Good luck.

Oh by the way, when drying the filter do NOT use a hair dryer or any other heating device, the heat can cause the cotton to shrink (better to be safe!).
The best method is to let it air dry overnight.
