Anyone here with experience about importing cars from the us?

Yeah anyone who has experience with importing cars from the us to canada, I NEED YOUR HELP!

I checked out riv.ca and all that, but I have some specific questions:

What if it's a private sale and the original bill of sale is looooong gone?

Is it absolutely neccessary?

Any tips?

I'm importing (trying to) a 1991 isuzu impulse.

I think you are misunderstanding what is meant by "original bill of sale". You need to provide the bill of sale between you and the person you are going to buy the car from. Not the bill of sale from when the person bought the car from the dealer or a previous person.

Even if it is a private sale, you and the seller need to write/declare something on a piece of paper (or obtain one of those official documents) and declare that the car has been sold to Mr. B from Mr. A for $XX.XX with XYZ kms...etc. Both of you need to sign the document.

Is the Impulse on the allowed list? If it's > 15 years old then you may face less of a hassle bringing it in.
