looking for a new mechanic as my mechanic will take a few days just to even look at my car and the car would probably get banged here and there...

remember im a student, the cheaper the better...

just need a basic tune up plugs,wires,cap/rotor, possibly fuel filter. (car is sputtering) 1994 JETTA 2.0L (no, its not hard to work on compared to an average jap car)

called some places and they charge like 80/hr+parts (holy smokes!)

located in central mississauga(near sq1,heartland)

Cheaper places charge $60 an hour, I think that's the lowest you can go.

basic maintenance stuff like changing spark plugs, wires and rotors, you can probably do yourself. if u don't know how to, go pick up a repair manual for your car from canadian tire for like $15-20. They usually come with detailed instructions and pictures.

Are you sure you need a tuneup, or is that an assumption? Its not a bad starting point since you'll need those things done sometime anyway, but if you're tight for money, might want to isolate the problem instead of tossing money at it. A tuneup itself isn't that hard, can probably get a knowledgable friend or RFDer to help you out with it with the Hayes manual.

hey, I have a 97 jetta that was sputtering/bogging.
I changed the spark plugs, wires, cap, fuel filter, cleaned the MAF sensor and throttlebody.

ME and I do a damn good job at it too. The funny thing is whenever my friends ask me to look at their cars I play stupid unless they are broke or something and are really in a tight bind. It seems mean but I dont have the time or patience to become everyone's free mechanic.
