Mercedes-Benz USA spokeswoman Donna Boland said she could not comment on the lawsuit since the car was purchased directly from Germany and not through Mercedes' U.S. arm. Mercedes-Benz USA is named as a defendant in the suit.
Suing its USA arm is stupid. They bought from Germany and they should get it fixed by Germany.

My uncle (a retired mechanic) was telling me that nowadays, everything is made by one plant which doles out engines to Honda, Toyoya, GM, etc. Everything is made of the same parts, and comes from the same source.
He told me about some guy who lives in his building - the guy bought a brand new Acura and about 900km in his engine blew. Appearently, there wasn't enough coolant fluid or something, and Acura of Canada would only give him a refurbished engine where the guy wanted a brand new car.
I don't know if it's true...but my uncle bought a lemon Honda Accord...my dad's Venture is going good (touch wood) :D

Well, we have a Highlander which is made in Japan, and a Venture which is made in North America. I was comparing the fit and finish of both cars, granted their of different classes and all, but i'd expect the fit an finish of a Corolla to be similar to that of a Highlander, vis a vis, a Venture to be similar to a Cadillac.
When I compare the Highlander to the Venture, the Highlanders interior trim fits exactly. There's equal spacing around all the interior panels, and everything is snug and doesn't flex when I put pressure on it.
The Venture on the other hand, I can apply a little pressure on the Dash, and I can see the trim flex. There's differing gaps between all the panels in the interior, and there apears to be some kind of foam gasket to plug all the gaps. It's speaks pretty badly of QA when you can see the foam gasket I think.
I'm in the market for a new car, and I was checking out some GM's at a dealership. I went from car to car, and I noticed that the instrumentation gauge cluster was the same on the Ventures, Cobalts and Cadillacs (I don't know which model it was, it was a Cadillac SUV). The radios were the same, and all the trim looked the same. If I was blindfolded and dropped in the drivers seat, I wouldn't know what model I was in - behind the wheel, they all use the same parts! (I guess that's common knowledge, but I thought they'd gussy up the parts on the Cadillacs being "high end" and all, but I was shocked)
