I need to replace the windshield on my Acura EL (the crack is now from the top all the way to the bottom) and wanted to get some feedback/opinions from the folks here.
1) Opinions on getting an OEM Honda windshield vs a generic one from Apple or Speedy?
2) Any experiences/recommendations of windshield replacement shops in Mississauga/Brampton?
3) Approximate price range for an EL/Civic?
Thanks.

Going through insurance, I've always managed to get it for about $100 at Apple for my Civic (had two broken ones within a year).
I see no difference between OEM and Apple.

Thx though I think my deductible is probably more than $100. I will look into that.

if you go through the insurance company do you know how much your premiums will go up if any?
especially if i'm under 25?

Your premiums shouldn't go up for something like that unless there is a pattern. Call your insurance company anonymously and ask.
Age shouldnt' be a factor in that.
When I had to get my windshield fixed, I didn't go through insurance since it only cost me about $300 and my deductible is $500

OEM glass is the most expensive. Not all insurance policy will allow OEM. There is a glass replacement limit and most places will steer you towards Apple.

Get the OEM glass...my experience on a 1993 Jeep Cherokee and a 2002 Honda Civic, both windshields were replaced with aftermarket glass (Apple and Standard, respectively) and they would do difft things like exhibit a wax like build up when it rained and not be as durable for stone chips.
Just my thoughts, OEM glass is worth it.

Originally I was quoted 288. I was able to call different competitiors and pricematch and get the price down to 100 bucks, but it's a low 90's toyota.

It was a full crack - top of the windshield to the bottom so it was unfixable.
Anyways, got it replaced form Sure Auto Glass in Brampton. $240 for the OEM PPG windshield.
