I happened to check out www.honda.ca and saw a Honda Fit. I never heard of it or saw its ad. It looks like it goes into the market of the original first generation Honda Civic. Does anybody know anything about this car?

You should be a car newbie even you have over 10k posts....Fit is on my local newspaper and TV commercials since alomst 2 months....I see them on the road everyday...

Not a big fans for the compact car, but I think it uses 1.5L Vtec engine with 105hp...main competitor is Toyota Yaris and the new Nissan Versa.

lol gman is a car newbie? Hes the one call other civics owners stupid young thugs, he's the one call Honda torqueless car POS on the road. Since he hates downshift and high revs, he pretty much calls honda owners are idiot drivers.

I'm shocked now. WOW

Huh!??? When did I say that? Are you sure it was me?

I don't recall I said civics owner stupid young thugs because I drove Honda all my life until 10 years ago.
I don't recall I said Honda is a torqueless car.
I don't recall I hate downshift because that was what I did all the time when I drove manual. I do hate hitting the brake and I do dislike high revs of small engine (not limited to Honda).
I don't recall saying honda owners are idiot drivers because I was a Honda owner most of my life.

I think I am more shock than you are. So, please prove my memory wrong.

I sure did not watch car news close enough or at all though.

since 2001 i believe and the extremely popular in europe and asia

hm...info...this is what i know:
standard abs and side curtain airbags, won't see that on another subcompact though versa has the side curtain standard too but no abs till top model which i think is weird
magic seats (go see the site)
crazy fuel efficiency (given)
beautiful interior
small car but alot of room on the inside
need mid model to get air con which is a negative to me
backlogged at least 2 months cuz its so popular
not much room for price negotiation
crappy financing terms (given)

the fit and jazz are the same car, the jazz has been around since the early 90's.

From the multiple reviews,

The fit is cheap, very easy on fuel and reliable, handles better than its competitor but brings absolutely no innovation except from it's Magic Seats designs to help pack it more efficiently. Usually recommended. Alternatives would be Yaris, Rio5, Versa.

Its appears it doesn't get as good gas mileage as the Yaris or the Corolla and is rather underpowered compared to those two.

They also tried to make this car to be the ugliest Honda for a long time.

I dunno, the Element is the reigning champ for ugliness...

the fit has been out in the global market for at least 4 years. Pick up a game of Gran Turismo 4 and you'll see. In the UK, it is known as the Honda Jazz, everywhere else, Honda Fit.

As for, is it a good car? Depends on your needs. It's only got a 107 hp engine, think it's a variant of a 10 year old D15 engine, but with VTEC. So its a D15B from 10 years ago. Think my friend has the same engine swapped in his 95 civic, but has 115 or 130 hp

But the fit is suppose to have econo of 5 L/100km.
Don't expect it to be faster than a 06 civic.

I think the Chevy Malibu has that title.

I think the Ass-tek has that title.

Anyways..you don't buy the FIT for speed. It's an econobox that can hual alot of stuff at a very good price. 107 sounds weak but you have to remember the car is light.
