I was kinda frustrated cuz the manager wasn't there today and the saleswoman kept saying that she would have to check to see what discount I could get. I felt it was kinda pointless cuz I should just speak directly to the manager in that case, but he had left for the day already.

Anyways, I found out that the tinted windows would cost $399 and the spoiler for the Civic would cost $799 (too much for me).

The Coupe cost $300 more but also comes with a mini spoiler of its own.

I was still undecided as to get the Coupe or the Sedan. Checked on Belair Direct Insurance and it's about a $130 difference annually, more for the coupe.

I like the look and shape of the coupe but don't like the big door and the fact that people will have to pull the front seat to get into the back.

Anyone have any advice or input?

the different body styles come down to personal choice...

but you'd be a damn fool if you paid $399 to get the windows tinted

you can get the windows tinted for much cheaper outside .. I got mine done for $160 with lifetime warranty .. the dealers dont do the tints themselves, they just send it to a local shop ... If you have a family then get the sedan, or if you are a student/single you should be fine with a coupe .. just depends how many ppl. you would likely carry around with you ...

Tints: Go to FX Auto in Markham, $250 All around with lifetime warranty and reapplication every 2 yrs for $50. Pay them cash, and they will forget about the taxes.

Get the car you desire most, but if you're already having doubts about he coupe, just get the Sedan. As a fellow EX sedan owner, i can tell you that you wont be disappointed.

As for the spoiler, yes its pretty expensive, but i dont feel one bit guilty. It really does change the look of the car. Hassle them enough, and they might give you a discount on the accessories.

How do you like the interior of the car? more specificly the dashboard and the speedometers? That looks pretty funky with the digital readings and circular rpm readings....Is there much glow at night from all the digital readings?

I wont lie, it takes a few glances to get used to, but you definitely end up liking it. I like the colour a lot as well, soothing to the eyes.

You can totally change the glow, to the point where you can barely tell its glowing. So all in all, i have no complaints with the dash.

thanks for the tip on the tinting and spoiler discount.

So you bring your regular windows to a shop and they will tint it for you with lifetime warranty? I guess tint is a coating and not the glass itself being manufactured darker then. I guess $160 is the lowest now then. Where can I get a price like that?

Also, did u guys find a cheaper deal on the spoiler? $800 is a lot to me for a piece of metal on the back. I wonder if Honda is the only one who can do it, cuz there is also a light on the bottom of the spoiler that I saw.

And I read a couple suggestions as to which dealer in the GTA would give the best deal on the Civic. Have you guys any suggestions? The saleswoman said today that it depends on whether they have the car at the dealership and whether the color is popular or not. All she could say beyond that was, I gotta ask my manager. Pretty useless to talk to a salesperson if you ask me, since everytime you negotiate a price they gotta ask their boss.

Also, curious as to whether you guys would pay an extra $2000 to get the sunroof option?

Yup, tint is just film they put on your glass. Again, it isnt as simple though...there are different kind of films, and different levels of tints, as in percent of shade. But $160 sounds an amazing deal, i would make sure though they have decent reveiws. A lot of tints can go wrong, not saying the $160 might not be high quality. All I know is that FX is trusted my most dealerships in GTA, including Honda. I just flat out asked my sales guy where they take their cars and he was like, "FX". Thats all i needed to know... ;)

Other then Honda, your only other choice for spoilers will be after market and frankly, i dont have much ideas with that. Atleast with Honda products you know they are Honda certefied and tested. Yes, the rear wing spoiler (the only one you can get in Canada through Honda for Sedans) does have a light on it. U.S. models actually get a deck lip spoiler, not a fan of it personally. As for the $800, its an accessory, and frankly...if you want it, there isnt a way around it but pay up. Maybe you might get a discount.

LOL...get used to the back and forth. I spent 3hrs on the table to come up with the deal. But yes, i see your point, thats just how this works. That way they can make you sit there longer and make it seem all legit and its easier on the sales rep, since he isnt the bad guy. Its almost like the good cop/bad cop thing lol. So at the end you feel like you sat this long, you might as well work out something. Do your homework, and be prepared to walk away, and Car Cost Canada will also help you out. My strategy was very simple...did my research, and went in with the reports from Car Cost for Mazda 3 (closest in terms of competition) and told the Sales guy that this is what i am getting. These are the prices with the accessories i want, now do your job and convince me to buy YOUR Civic! Worked for me...

$2000, i am guessing you mean that as an upgrade to the EX model. If yes, then there are a lot of other features as well that you can get with the EX. But the moonroof is a nice feature to have, again, my opinion is biased since i already spent on it. You just have to decide between your needs and wants i suppose.

Good luck ....

I doubt that the spoiler is even metal, most likely a kind of hard plastic like everything else on today's cars.

The place i got my tints from is in Ottawa ... www.extremeautocare.ca ... I wont say I am too happy with their tinting job, they can never get the rear windshield right w/o bubbles .. maybe I am too picky, but they've tried to fix it for free when i went back ...

Why don't you negotiate the deal without asking for the spolier. Once the deal is where you like it (price wise) and the dealer/salesperson is ready to accept, say that you want the spoiler added (for no or reduced cost) or the deal is off. After investing so much time and having them know that you are willing and ready to buy, they will be willing to bend a little and might throw it in for free to save the deal.

so should this be my strategy...

bring in a quote from carcostcanada for the Civic LX I'm interested in and then talk directly to the fleet manager (since the salesperson seems to always have to go back and forth to negotiate price and get the OK from their boss). Even though they don't like carcostcanada and places like that, as I've read on the threads...

Go closer to decide on the car purchase...

THEN say I want a spoiler too, can u give it to me for free or what else can u give me?

PS I'm also considering strongly the Civic LX Coupe cuz I like the style of the car. Not decided yet cuz of insurance costs more for the coupe (my agent told me today that it's like repairing 1 side of a car instead of just half a car or one small door). The woman said it would cost me $300 extra, but I am wondering whether or not I should negotiate the sedan first then say I want the coupe and add $300 to the price of the car to get the coupe, should I decide on the coupe.

Thanks guys!
