Hey guys
I was wondering if any of you went hunting around Toronto looking for the lowest dealer price for the Honda Civic LX, and where you found the best deal.
I heard that in the east end, some of the Chinese places offer good packages, and one place even offered the 1% off (since GST becomes -1% in July or something)
Could you either post here or PM me if you have any helpful info?
Thanks

You can try Marinos Lakeshore Automall. A friend of mine just bought a van from there and no one else would match the price.
Good luck,

Friend of mine works for Formula Honda.
1% GST rebate is sort of a MUST theseday.
Plus $1100 off Civic LX (on the phone). I am sure once you are there, there maybe a few more $$$.

that's something I wanted to clarify. I think it's more than $1100 off cuz I checked the retail price and it was more like $1400 difference between them and one of the websites with wholesale prices.
Should I phone and talk with the manager, and then negotiate a price?
How would they give me more $ off when I'm there?

DO NOT go to Markham Honda, they will be your WORST nightmare! Take it from me, I own a 2006 EX Sedan which I purchased from them. Let me just put it this way, its been 8 months plus, i still have 4 free oil change coupons to use, and yest I opt to go elsewhere and rather pay for it out of my pocket then take the car to these people.
They will SCREW YOU Royally!

Damn...there isn’t enough space for me to list everything, but I will try…hell, this thread is the reason I decided to join RFD after being a spectator for the past 6 months!
Apologies for hijacking the thread…just had to prevent the disaster!
Got the car, wanted additional accessories, paid for them at the price of 2005 accessories price list rather then 2006. They say, since the car is so new, they do not have the 2006 prices in yet (I was an idiot that I didn’t find that stupid, especially considering they are already selling the car?!).
Anyways, car gets here WIHTOUT accessories. Then, it takes over a month for them to even get the accessories back on the car. Their excuse...Honda doesn’t have them yet (meanwhile all other dealers sell them  ). In that time, took the car to them 3 times, since they would call me to come as my accessories have arrived, when I get there, they have one, but forget the other. For example, I get the Rear Wing Spoiler, but not the Chrome Exhaust Cover.
When all is said and done, out of curiosity I decide to take a look at the Honda website just to see how much the cars are going and compare them to what I paid. I notice that all 2006 accessories are actually cheaper then the 2005. I actually overpaid close to $300 in accessories. So I decide to go down there and explain it to them, and their only solution was I can get another accessory within that price range. I couldn’t even get my own money back!!?? At this point, I was just frustrated, and simply wanted to get whatever I can get back. So I decide to get the leather steering wheel cover...takes a week for them to order. Finally get a call saying its here, I go back, and to my amazement they say, it will cost me, $92 labor per hr to put it on (since it needs to be hand stitched)!!! And it takes at least 1.5 hrs...at this point I am like, if I am going to pay, I would rather pay someone else then these idiots. So I take it to another dealership...take the car, drop it off...2 hrs later get a call saying, "we cant put this on your car, its the wrong cover. This one is for a Mini Van" Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Thank god they didn’t charge me for anything.
I go back to the dealer ship and the General Manager’s only excuse was..."the sales rep ordered it, not me". All I could do at that point was tell him...keep the damn cover and the $300 overpayment! Believe it or not, he didn’t even say sorry or anything, he just let me walk out of there.
6months later its time for an oil change (I got 4 free oil changes when I negotiated the deal). So I get there, ask them to put synthetic oil, to my amazement, they say, "We don’t have it, and need to order it, it can take 1 day to arrive". Imagine that...they don’t have synthetic motor oil at hand and they are supposed to be a certified Honda mechanics and have a shop and all?? So I am like, ok...order it. I go back the next day...tell the service guy that this is covered in my deal so I aint paying jack. To my amazement he goes, do you have your coupons...and I am like, WHAT COUPONS??! Apparently the sales guy has to give me the coupons without which they cant give me free oil change, (despite the fact that I have the contract and the original paper work of the deal at hand which lists that 4 oil changes are free!!!).
Ofcourse the sales guy isn’t available...but I am like, ****, I am here so one way or the other, I am getting an oil change today! Let me see your manager! The manager first doesn’t want to see me, since he is "busy", yet I can see him through the glass door having coffee and chatting away with his coworkers! He finally comes out, and then gives me the crap as to how they need the coupons and blah blah blah. I was like, that’s your problem, your sales guy didn’t give me the coupons...I have the paper work if you need to see it. The guy finally gives me ONE coupon and then makes it seem like he is doing me a HUGEEEEEEEE favour . Tells me how they never do this, and how he is putting his personal rep on the line and how they cant just give away oil changes! I am like, dude, it’s a freaking oil change which I GOT with the deal...I just lost it man! I just took my car keys and walked out...
My only payback...right after i got the car, i received a call from some 3rd party researcher on behalf of Honda. They wanted to know how i found the service level at this place, by this time it had already been a month plus and i was still awaiting the accessories, so naturally my reveiw wasnt that great. And then i hear from the sales rep that Honda Canada actually gave them crap and even took a chunk of their profit from the car.
Hey…you asked, I am just complying. ;)

wow, sorry to hear that, sounds like you and wasabi1 had totally different experiences. I wonder if the same manager is there still.

I went to Markham Honda for a test drive of the Civic and Accord. Their parking lot is TIGHT. I curbed a brand new Civic twice, then the saleslady told me that she'd park it. If you're going to spend a whack of money and build a new dealership - then at least have proper parking facilities.
Anyways, I really wasn't interested in buying anything that day, but the saleslady insisted on us sitting down and getting prices at least. She kept pressuring us to buy today, and we kept telling her that weren't interested in buying today, we were just killing time while my parents went shopping at Markville Mall.
Anyways to make a long story short, an aquaintance of mine had bought an Accord SE-V6 from another dealership for about $30,300 on the road. Knowing this price, I wanted to see if Markham Honda would come reasonably close. The figure they gave me was MSRP less $200, putting the same car on the road for around $34,000 and change. The manager wandered over, and knocked off $1,000 from the price if we bought today. I told them that I still wasn't interested, and if and when I would be, I could get the car for $30,300 on the road. They then started to tell me that this is below what it costs them to buy the car from Honda, and such a deal just isn't possible, short of stealing the car or doing something illegal.
Anyways, I wasn't a big fan of Honda's to begin with, so nothing loss nothing gain. Point is, even if the salesperson tells you that this is the bottom line, last price, point of no return, if you buy the car for this price the dealership will close down, etc...chances are you can get it lower.
I loath the day when I actually have to purchase a car...i'm sure it'll be a pain in the ass.
