I thought the word "recall" wasn't in Honda's lexicon

Honda to recall 561,594 cars at cost of $24 mln

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's Honda Motor Co. (7267.T) said on Wednesday it would recall and repair a combined 561,594 units of the Odyssey, CR-V and Step Wgn models globally to fix a faulty ignition switch that could cause the engine to stop.

The recall and repairs would cost the company around 2.73 billion yen ($23.70 million), a spokeswoman said.

Of the total, 483,185 units are in Japan and were built between October 1994 and May 1997, Honda said in a filing with Japan's transport ministry.

Most of the recalls outside Japan cover the Odyssey minivan sold in North America. No accidents were reported overseas, while five people in Japan suffered burns from contact with melted ignition switches

Good!!!!!!!! This will teach them a lesson!!!! For the past few years, they have been going cheapo on their quality that has hurt their sales. They just vowed recently with their new lines to be better!!! Time will tell!!!!!!!!!

recalls happen to all the automakers frequently, especially with the volumes they are producing.

Anyone who thinks Japanese cars are perfect are mistaken.
Toyota's and Honda's break down just like any other car (maybe a bit less) and recalls happen.
The Japanese are still human and make mistakes like anyone else.

Don't take things so literally. It's an expression.

My '99 Accord had a similar recall.

Maybe Honda should go with another company that manufactures the ignition switches.

so I guess they would be the ones that are behind if you are correct.

Honda has had ignition problems for a while now...this is not new if you have a Honda in the past. It's easily replaced...i think they changed it while I was getting a oil change for my acura.

looks like it's an expansion of a previous recall. Honda had previously recalled a good portion of their product line for this exact same issue.

Regardless, dealers haven't been notified of this updated recall by Honda Canada, so it doesn't exist just yet for Canada at least
