Hey guys,
I've been thinking of going for my M licence. Only experience on a bike is my bicycle :) ... Anyone have personal experience, maybe the school they went to and advice with that?
Seems to be about $300-400 for the beginner program to reach the M2 stage. Then another $300-400 for the M program after a year.
So any opinions or advice on trying for my M licence?

I started the journey of getting my full M license in May. I had never ridden a motorcycle before just like you but knew for some reason I wanted one. These are the steps:
- I wrote the $17.50 written test to get my M1 which is valid for 90 days I believe.
- Took the "Gearing Up" course at Georgian College (Barrie). The cost was $385 for the course plus $116 for two nights in their "Summer Suits" (I'm not from Barrie). I would highly recommend the course. The course takes you from zero riding experience and gives you the confidence to ride on the street. The instructors are all incredibly friendly and helpful. It is obvious that they want you to succeed. If you pass the course you'll get your papers for the M2 which you drop off at the ministry.
- I haven't made it this far but the M2 exit can be done at the ministry 18 months after you got your M2.
You may have difficulty getting into the Gearing Up classes now as they fill up quickly. I got lucky and found someone who cancelled at the last minute but when I was signing up (middle of May) they were booking in mid July. Definately take it though. The course is enough fun to consider it a two day vacation :)

Don't forget you'll need some equipment before starting the classes. If I remember correctly, you'll need:
DOT motorcycle helmet
Leather gloves that go over the wrist
Leather boots that cover the ankle
Denim jacket or leather jacket
Denim pants or leather pants
Classes run rain or shine, so hope it's not raining that day.

Make sure you take life insurance, you don't want to leave your loved ones with nothing.

I'm just a student. I've been weighing the options but it looks like its gonna be a costly endevour. The equipment like a helmet, jacket, gloves, etc. I was told would be a couple thousand. I am going to school out in Ottawa so I may enroll in that program for September or October.
