my tutoring team and i are getting students, but we would like to get more, though we are getting students at a steady pace, we are a team of 4, and we split up the studetns depending on who has time and is the best at that subject, we tutor K-12 and we are all very experienced tutors (at least 6 years each)

please help think of ways to get more students

and also

if we were to distribute flyers into people's mailboxes/doors, would it degrade our "business"?

yes, we look like a small business cuz we have a name, website, logo, centre and stuff

so ya, please help us come up with some ideas to get more students, any suggestions are appreciated!
thanks!

Think of yourself as a parent. What would you want to see in a tutor? Do you answer those questions?

Some that I can think of immediately:
- what are the credentials of the tutors?
- safe environment? clean, hazard free, no blocked exits, security...
- do you come to the house or students go to a central location?
- tutors checked against police records (no pedophiles and freaks allowed)
- do you clearly state the benefit to the student and parent?
- do you show measurable progress or achievements like "all of our students increased their grades by one level" or something like that
- any testimonials/referrals for happy parents and/or successful kids?
- any guarantees on student's performance or progress?

Expanding your customer base
- do you creatively get to places where parents are (malls, community gatherings and events)
- volunteer your company's time to help disadvantaged kids that cannot afford tutoring - great thing to do and side benefit of free PR that will attract paying customers
- offer a free help line for quick homework questions to get exposure to your company (kinda like a free trial for parents) - you can call your local newspaper and maybe get a writeup on your company

Flyer distribution
- depends on the quality of your flyer (no mass photocopies where the final 100 pages look washed out)
- I see some with poor design, crappy graphics, typo's and other mistakes on the flyer...does not inspire confidence
- you should create something that has a ONE SECOND impact on the reader otherwise the flyer will be tossed in the trash
- the flyer should be backed up by support throughout the communication chain (website, phone/voicemail, in-person) as there is no point in having someone excited about hiring you guys and then being disappointed when the other points of contact are not as professional

This should get you started....
