moving in August and I have numerous pieces of old furniture to get rid of - sofas, tables, shelves beds...etc.

The stuff is old and I am giving it away - or for junk - need advice on how to get rid of the stuff

put it on your lawn and stick a 'free' sign on it. it'll disappear withing hours. worked with my 15 year old rusty lawnmover.

I'm sure that will work but I need somebody to haul the stuff outside!

post on freecycle.org and let the people know they have to help move it out when they take it.

then just leave it inside when you move as a 'bonus' to the new homeowners.

Make a thread in the freebies section. I've seen hideous furniture there get snapped up quickly by people just because they're free.

Yeah... we're moving soon and we're gonna put a working stove and freezer on our lawn... both work perfectly so they should go fast. If not then we'll just call the gov't to take them away.

Call a local church or organisation that sponsors immigrants. They will come in your apartment and take everything away. My MIL did that when she moved to Europe, left everything in the living room and they carted it all away.

Have you tried tying some helium balloons to it to see if you can get it to go skyward?

At least in Edmonton, there are numerous charities that will take them and give them to underpriviledged families. Some offer free pick up.

There's also 1-800-GOT-JUNK which will haul stuff away. Never used em, but you probably have to shell out some $.
