So I purchased a BT headset off ebay, paid via paypal using my credit card and the seller shipped though paypal, however the tracking number I was given is invalid and I have not received the item.
Seller said they would give me a refund, just wait a week, but I waited and now have not had any contact from the seller at all.
I opened a claim with Paypal, but am I wasting my time? Should I just contact my credit card company directly and get the to reverse the charge, or wait out the paypal dispute process?
Thx

This happened to be 2 or 3 times before.... the Paypal customer service usually lean towards the buyer. You usually get your money back. However, if the seller has no money in their paypal account. You won't get a penny back even if you won the dispute.

Start with paypal since they would probably have the best record of the transaction. If that doesn't work, go through credit card.
My experience, seller didn't respond and I got my money back. (Not very quickly though...)

Yep, takes a long ass time. I lost $30 once, but when I won the PayPal dispute, I only got $4.50 back. Not a big loss, just a pain in the ass.

What? Its not full recovery? Credit card is full recovery.
I might as well call up my credit card company now and dispute the charge.

Open a dispute, and call your credit card for a chargeback.
Chargeback will give you everything back, PayPal might give you nothing even if you win (just don't wait too long!)

Anyone else had any experience with paypal's dispute process?
Do they take that $20 fee I recall reading somewhere?

QFT.
Just did a charge back for a DVD that never arrived which was bought on ebay. File a dispute with your credit card company and bypass the mess.

Just do the chargeback and avoid Paypal at all cost!

Oh GOD. I think I will have to end up doing this if this dude I bought a PSP from doesn't act up any sooner. This guy takes soo damn long to read emails and I have paid like a week or so ago and to this day no tracking number, etc.
So if I get to this, call the CC company and do a chargeback is better and holds 100% results? How does a chargeback work?
And its on my Dads CC, can I call on behalf of my dad cuz he doesnt speak English very well.

Thx for the advice all.

Very interesting! I filed a charge back with my credit card company today, and I just got an e-mail from paypal mins ago saying the claim has been decided in my favour and that the full amount is being refunded to my credit card.
Should I call up my credit card company and cancel the charge back once the refund shows up on my account?
Or should I just complete all the paperwork anyway, and leave it to the credit card company to make sure I'm not double refunded?

Oh god. Charge backs against PayPal are not a good idea. Your PayPal account is probably going to get suspended now. PayPal is really anal against these things.
Why did you file a PayPal dispute and do a chargeback?

LOL. Maybe you should have done one thing at a time. LOL.
Doesnt matter which route you go, just make sure you get charged back once. Be an honest sport :cheesygri

See Sheky and HBP's posts, that's why I did both.

Hehe well Sheky and HBP recommended doing both. But no worries, the credit card company is very good at ensuring that you don't get credited twice. Last time I did a charge back was when I was double billed at a restaurant. Contacted them and they did not bother doing anything, so after a week of not hearing back from them I filed a charge back. Got my temp. credit, filled in the paperwork and then the restaurant finally decided to refund me themselves. The credit card company reversed the temp credit shortly after that.

seems paypal HQr is in Area 51 :) Better to use alternate option like 2checkout better for US, worldpay nice for UK & chronopay good solution for EU. :|
