I was thinking today that maybe it would be an interested thing to find out.
If we're truly such a community., You'd think it would be natural to almost always assume any meeting would be at least a quarter of an hour., trading over a cappuccino or my favourite., Bubble Tea http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/petawawa/misc/laugh.gif

I voted the first one for the most part. Most of my transactions happen right at my house so we usually talk for a bit, ranges between 5 minutes and has gone for upto 30 minutes.

It's either the first or the third option for me. But most of my transactions have been meet up, exchange and go. Only one transaction have myself and the buyer hung around and chit chatted about cars and boys and their toys. :)

Dinner, movie, and back to my place. Unless they want cash.

I voted for the last one, because I am just that lonely...
...No, actually I clicked the wrong one. #2, except in flu season.

Here's another topic, safety when trading? What happens when you are trading when its dark outside?
I always bring two flashlight with me. One small Fenix for light and one large Mag in case it gets physical.

I bring my two fists. Nobody's going to mess with these bad boys.
Why do a trade in a dark place, though? I'm sure there are many more public areas (coffee?) to do the trade at, unless you're going to their place. In that case, at least you know where they live for when you want to go back for round 2.

Yeah if the trade doesn't happen at home I drive to the nearest Timmy's and do it there. Nice public area, plenty of cops and tow-truck drivers around.

i normally greet the person, shake hands and then verify item or let the other party verify the item.
Maybe small talk, exchange items/cash and then leave. I almost always do transactions at a nearby Timmies.
Probably at most 15-20 minutes.
Unfortunately I haven't had the good fortune to trade with a hawwwtttt girl (seeing as there are so many hot girl RFDers). If I do, then hopefully the transaction would be longer...................haha I kid I kid.

Inspect items, pay, sometimes chit chat. All depends on the person and if I've got somewhere to be. I always try to make it in a public place for safety issues. I've done it anywhere from TTC stations to the middle of the Eaton's Center :P

I try to chat, shake hands, etc, but some sellers are so rude - they don't even know what shaking hands/introducing themselves is ...

Shaking hands is a must in any exchange imo.
I always bring someone along (usually someone big) just in case anyone trys to get brave.

Depends on the trade.
One trade I did by going to their house, we were both polite, so we just talked a bit. He had to run to get the item, so I made small-talk with his mom while I waited.
Shook hands, assumed it was working and parted ways.
Another trade was done in a public place at lunch time, we were walking the same way so we decided to chat for a bit while we walked. Shook hands, parted ways.
I usually talk for a couple minutes, unless the person is not comfortable with it.

Depends on the person/item.
I bought an IR dongle off of someone -- I just inspected the goods, then left. Really -- what's to talk about? It's just a friggin' dongle....
Bigger ticket items like phones and LCD screens, there is more interaction...usually me testing or demo-ing the item (esp. if I'm selling it); I also chew the fat a bit and talk about what they're using, etc.
I once met someone who was a traffic guy for 680 news. That was cool -- it felt like meeting a celebrity. He's still on RFD...I'll let him divulge his own information if he chooses, however :cheesygri. Anyways, we chatted for a little while, but he was in a hurry so I offerred him a ride as well. He was a really nice guy.

(back to the topic of this thread) Just curious how many actually "inspect" the cash you receive after/during such a transaction & does the other party every get offended that you would even check.

There are? I thought RFD was male-dominated. At least the BST section.

sold my KG800 Chocolate phone a few months ago to a quite attractive gurl. funny thing is, her man pulled up too wit a BIG ass dog. at first, i thought he was gonna try jackin me. had my cuz wit me though, so we coulda taken em. my female friend was chillin der too, and she always got a bad in the trunk :P
anyways, i usually chat for a bit if the person is so inclined. never know who you may be able to do business with in the future. may as well make connections, find out wut they do, exchange cards, etc. wut can i say, imma businessman.

I think it depends on the items for sale. Typically more females in the BST Gift Cards forum than say Computers & Electronics, Motor Vehicles.
