Hey everyone, I really don't know what to do. Today in class (im in gr12) my vice principal came and ask me down to the principals office because they needed to talk to me about something. I got there and they accused me of assisting in drug deals  and then the vice principal is like "I know you smoke pot and I understand your young and want too... and i tried to cut him off and defend myself and then he yells and says to let him finish and hes like but police have been watching your car pick up drug dealers in our school and (undercovers) have been following you dropping them off at a house (which is total bs). Then the principal says this has put me on hiatus to return for one semester (i need to get two more university credits) and they claim i may not come back to the school. Now let me say I do not smoke pot, I quit that well over a year ago and last month me and my close friends had a little dinner because of me going clean. So like I worked hard to get back on track, I now average around a 80% and rarely miss classes... All this hard work to get screwed over by this just because some of my friends smoke pot... Also the principal is like if i were you I wouldnt drive to school anymore... WTF?? Anyways guys I was just wondering is this fair what they are doing to me? I know I made mistakes over a year ago and they never caught me or anything back then so why now?

Well, if you don't do drugs, offer the principal that you'll do a drug test, and urine sample. And, if you're as clean as you say you are, then the tests will come back negative, and rub it on the principal's face.
Heck, if he makes you take a semester off and you're wrongly accused you can even sue him, with proof of the clean drug tests.

You know how slow police paper work is especially for low priority cases. Maybe I am just cruel, but "Tough Luck." Hang with the wrong crowd, doing illegal things, what can you do? You made your choice.
Remember that cliche movie saying uhh... "the past will catch up to you", and "you do the deed, prepare to face the consequences"
You can try talking to your councillor if you like, maybe he will have suggestions. Or maybe a lawyer if you have the cash. :D

Yeah, but the principal has accused HIM of doing drugs, which he denies and says he's clean. A simple drug test, will put that issue to rest. As for him hanging out with the wrong people, well, that's one thing, but that doesn't mean he does drugs.

Sorry to hear that, but you don't ask this on an Internet forum, talk to your PARENTS!

Double check that he has the right info... maybe the cops gave him a vehicle description and he thought that it was yours but it's not?

Call the school board and file a complaint. Let them know you WILL get a lawyer if you do not get an apologly from the principal.
The principal has no right whatsover to make these types of allegations against you, without your parents being there. This is like cops arresting someone without reading them their miranda rights. Call the cops, and ask if it is true, and what proof they have if any. I bet the principal is on a witch hunt, or simply demented.
Tell your parents. Do not be silent. This is your future you speak of... your reputation.
Congratulations BTW on quiting drugs. Way to go!

Contact the school board, talk to someone who can help you there. If that doesn't work, you could also try your local MLA (or equivalent in Toronto), and there might be other advocacy groups out there that will fight on your behalf. If that doesn't work out, quickly get a lawyer.
Good Luck!

Dude - document EVERYTHING - time, place, what was said, witnesses if any etc. Get your parents involved or if you're not comfortable with them, a family friend, boss or someone, anyone that is old enough to get the attention of the Principal.
Take the drug test - make sure it's done at an accredited place with witnesses.
As far as hanging with your "not yet drug free" buddies - hopefully the second hand pot smoke does not show up in your urine!
Congrats on staying clean - don't let this get you down - you've proven that you can turn things around so stick with it. Get yourself into an environment that is going to help you in the long run - whether you want to continue on in school or work!

Yea, it sucks to say it but there are certain things that you just cannot bear the burden of on your own. Sometimes you just gotta utilize your parents.
Sounds like this principal is a hotshot macho man who gets off on being all powerful, otherwise he'd give you your chance to defend yourself rightfully.
So, fight adults with adults.. Let them fight in their worlds, stay out of it and just do what you are told by your defence. If you are what you say you are, you will come out legitimate and will have learned a lot of things from this experience... most of all you will win the defense and the principal will have to apologize.
Just remember to show humility.. don't sink to his level and be a hotshot.
Parents, even if they don't trust you.. will defend you to all end if someone insults them with comments they made towards you.

Ask for proof. Ask to talk to the cops that he mentions with him present. If the principal has drug dealer going to his school maybe he should be going after them instead.

Sueing a school never works out.
No, but it would probably get him the attention he needs in order for authorities to logically and fairly examine his situation instead of being at the mercy of one man's ego.

Yeah, you seriously gotta get someone like your teacher to help you out. And take drug test as mentioned by many people.
On the way, get the media invovled and make the news!
But seriously, I think your principal is an ass from the way you've described him. Good luck.

Guys, thanks for the advice!! Just to clear some things up i read... my friends who are claimed to be drug dealers infact do deal, but the thing is they have only been in my car once or twice in my whole life, and I guess by the schools rule im a criminal or something. The drug test is a brilliant idea, I don't do any of that and I know i can pass 100%! As for lawyers, I really don't have the money.
A funny story is one of my friends was hanging out with stoners at a park by the school one day and the prinicipals came and he was smoking a ciggarette while the rest were smoking pot and he was accused of smoking pot with no proof and suspended for 3 days, along with 2 others, when there was about 8 people...
Another sad thing is under the old adminstration before they all retired/ took new jobs, I defended my school in court against another kids lawsuit and I was the only witness called in other then the victim, and this is how I am repaid...

honestly principles are only trying to scare you right now because they figure since you have some kind of relations with those type of people.
by saying that it is merely a scare tactic goin at you, because when it comes down to it, accusations like that wont exactly get you suspended / expelled for the semester. they figure by scaring you like that you will crack, which you wont since you say your legit. btw contacting the super intendent of a area of schools is hard as hell cuz they are never there and will likely contact you a month later...

If you are in the right then hire Attorney. After it all blows over sue his overpaid administrative ass into the ground where it belongs.

Not really a good idea.As stated before it never works out when you sue a school. If this was in the states it would be different. But in canada it is not a cut and dry sueing people in these cases.

Unless he has any proof, he can't actually do anything to you. Take it from a troublemaker.
Watch out, though. He will ride your ass like there's no tomorrow. If you're in your last year, you just need to stick it out and keep your nose clean.
I don't know about you, but I usually had to do some smooth talking to get myself out of some bad situations. That'd probably do you some good right now. When the principal tries approaching you about it, tell him that he's got it all wrong, that you've been a good student, and that he should not use you as a gateway to the people he's really after. Though, make sure you don't come off as hostile towards him. Act neutral.

Things to do:
1. Talk to parents (if that doesn't help)
2. Talk to school counselor (if that doesn't help)
3. Try to find some youth help groups to explain your situation.
If your average marks are over 80% and you quit that habit a year ago, what is happening to you is just unfair. If nothing works go try to talk your principal in calm manner and tell him what you told us here.
Good luck to you...
