Hi All,

what's the difference between the coolsat 5000, coolsat 6000, viewsat extreme and the viewsat platinum?

Which is the best and and in which order and why?

Thanks.

You might want to wait. Currently some issues with FTA units.. Rumours they are going to go dead soon,etc..

CoolSAT5000 - 133MHz CPU - 16MB of memory
CoolSAT6000 - 133MHz CPU - 32MB of memory
Otherwise no difference.
Simple to use.
Better component out (and still, some issues)
A little more $$ (compared to VS)
Better scanning, for true FTA
More sensible to bad switches and also bad wiring
Poor EGP (2hrs - i think as oppose to 24hrs)

ViewSAT Platinum - 160MHz CPU - 16MB (some say it's only 133MHz)
ViewSAT Xtreme - 170MHz CPU - 16MB (some say it's only 133MHz)
Xtreme has hardware for true blindscan, and it's got digital output. Xtreme supposedly better for sat motor as well. Otherwise, the same.
Good guide
Best support

The ppvs are all working for viewsat.
I would recommend a viewsat as i have both coolsat 5k and VS and viewsats support is amazing.

I am arranging a buying group for Viewsat VS 2000 Extremes. If you are interested in one, send me a PM. If I can get an order for 10 units or more, our cost is only $135 + Shipping.

of the boxes mentioned, you only can buy the viewsat right now.
it's the only box with a fix.

Apart from the fix, Viewsats have some issues with component out. Some kinda tint I beleive.
Captiveworks and Viewsats are the ones to go. Coolsat is a good box, but a bit expensive, while Captiveworks with the same specs is $20 to $30 cheaper and they don't have component out issues.
