Sounds okay.. video card sucks though.
And you want a good (at least decent) video card to do visual work.
If you want a good system, why not just build a good one using NCIX's computer building program?

Not recommended. At this price point, I agree with FastFokker and suggest you go the build-your-own route. You will have much better quality well-known parts for around the same price.
I wonder what kind of mobo that LD system has. It uses DDR ... Hmmm ....

I tried using the NCIX builder and it came to about $1400 for a similar system.
but you are probably right about being better parts.

$1400? Really?
I would think you should be able to construct a very good system for the same price, and at least then you would know exactly what parts you are getting.

if you drop the os, the mouse/keyboard and change the case from the p180 to something much cheaper. You could probably even drop the vide card down but its a good mid range card. Anywho my build came to $998
Nikao mid tower case - 25.80
AMD 64 3200+ venice - 178.97
Asus 939 pci-E mobo - 97.58
OCZ EL 1 gig of ram(ram could be upgraded as well but it should do) - 154.24
Segate 250 gig HD - 106.98
floppy drive - 9.38
7600 gt co superclock - 275.74
OCZ Modstream psu - 96.98
Samsung dvd burner - 53.21
Althought you'll probably find the best deal in BST
edit: ohhhhh, not a gamer. My bad. hmm well I don't do photo editing so I have no idea how powerfull you need a vid card to be for that.

NCIX sale prices + pricematching yields $792 before tax.
No O/S, but better motherboard, better case, better power supply.

If you can wait just a few more weeks, D 940 will look very attractively priced ... Much better than D 805
Intel is planning, if the slides published are to be believed, a price slash on the 4th of June, when it will lower the whole-sale cost of Intel Pentium D 960 to $224, whereas the models 930, 920 and 820 will cost $178. On the 23rd of July, Intel will decrease the pricing of Intel Pentium D 960, 950, 945, 940 and 820 to $316, $224, $163, $183, $133 and $113, respectively. Meanwhile, its Pentium D 805 will cost only $93, starting from that date.
** Prices are in US$
Intel has started the price war ... And AMD will (be forced to) respond ...

Thanks every one, I do believe I can wait a few weeks and go for the better processor.
I must have chosen some more expensive parts to get $1300 when I did it with NCIX.
