I am currently with LOOK Communications and noticed a degrade in my DSL speed from 3.0 mbps to 1.0 mbps. I called LOOK support and they told me that my phone line has reached 90% capacity and therefore could not handle higher speed. Another guy from the support department told me that the Central Office is over 5 KM away from my place. I was also told all sorts of possiblilties that caused the slow speed. But none of the above is true , I argued. I had DSL internet for a few years now and enjoyed the 3.0 mbps speed until recently.
If the Central Office is 5 KM away from my place how come for the past few years I could get 3.0 mbps speed ?
If my phoneline could not handle high speed then how come for the past few years I could get 3.0 mbps speed ?
This same problem with DSL speed decrease happened to my internet connection a few years ago when I had Bell Sympatico Highspeed DSL and I was told similar stories about why the decrease in speed but at the end Bell fixed it. Now I have to go through the same crap again.
For a DSL user's DSL speed to increase or decrease, all Bell has to do is change the DSLAM port setting on their side and you will either get a higher speed or decrease in speed.
LOOK support was not helpful so I called Bell instead and just as I expected they told me to tell my ISP to speak to them about fixing the problem. I doubt anything will be done. *sigh*
What should I do ?
Whatever other ISP I switch to uses the Bell Phoneline and Rogers Cable is worse than DSL.
