Subj. I have an old laptop with 16 bit PCMCIA slots, making it difficult to find ethernet cards that will work with it. I also have an ne2000 compatible CF ethernet adapter, will the combo work together via a PC card adapter? Or are the PC card adapters all designed to work with a 32 bit Cardbus slot?

If the laptop PCMCIA slot is 16bit, you need a 16bit Compact Flash card reader inorder to insert the CF ethernet adapter into.

In short. 16 bit with 16 bit, anything that is Cardbus (32 bit) will not work in 16bit PCMCIA slots.

Sandisk makes 16 bit Compact Flash -> PC Card adaptors, but I would just get a non-cardbus PC Card NIC from EBay.
