So i'm curious, any "big" companies out there that are doing well? Well, as in turning a profit.

I know the domestic car companies are getting pwned left and right. TTC is getting it up the ass. So...

What is your definition of "well"?

My defintion would be a company turning over a profit, and by that there are surely many unionized companies in Canada turning a profit.

Not really.. Tax cuts and the ontario school system is in shreds... not b/c unions tho.

Companies that own docks that handle import/export. Out in the west we have Surrey-Fraser Docks, TSI (Deltaport) and Westshore (Roberts Bank).

Its pretty easy for a regulated or non competitive company to make profits, just add up your expenses and your profit, divide by the customer base and set your rates, no market or competition to affect you.

Lots of big unionized companies like the financial industry, oil & mineral industry, insurance industry, airlines right now and the media are making profits but all are in some sort of regulated environment and not many companies are totally unionized or have only one union.

I would further define "well", in addition to turning a profit, as treating it's workers like human beings and being a good corporate citizen in terms of the environment, etc.
