My first post here, so be gentle :)

I have been looking for an inexpensive laptop that has a powerful core duo processor and a decent graphics card to play games with. I got this dell small business flyer in the mail and the 6400 is on sale for $1099 with 1 gig of ram and an ATI x1300. You can upgrade the graphics to an x1400 for $50 more, so the total is $1149. I added the 3 years return to depot service and it comes to $1279 total.

Here is the link if anyone is interested... http://configure.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=ca&CS=CABSDT1&l=en&OC=OCINSP6400_CAT_CB64CTM

Is this a good deal?

P.S. I tried to apply the $50 off coupon but it doesn't work.

Thanks

You gotta use the RFD link to get $50 more off on the front page.

Anyways I just bought one. Pay close attention to the customization page as there are some stuff available for $0 that aren't selected :) (Like an extra AC adapter)

My company just bought a dozen of the 6400's. My only complaint is the screen is very very reflective. Outside on a sunny day is terrible and if you have a window behind you its pretty bad glare. Great laptop for the price though.

Here's the link to the one on the RFD deals page by the way:

Comes with a carrying case or backpack as well. I'm surprised there's not more discussion about the $549 Dimension 1100 with Intel Celeron D 2.66GHz, 512MB DDR SDRAM, 160GB hard drive, 16X CD/DVD DL burner (DVD+/-RW), and a 17” LCD monitor as well.

looks like it's back up to $1099, but this deal is still better than the featured one as you get 1GB of RAM instead of only 512MB. This system can also be customized whereas the "Super Deal" can't be.

Cheers.

Upgrade the battery to the 9cell - it's well worth the $40 they charge as you'll get much more usefullness out of it.

The only other warning I'd give is the warrenty - doing depot means it can take days to get stuff fixed vs onsite/nbd.

Also if this is bought under the "small" business, give the CANADIAN sales dudes a call direct - they can generally beat the web price. I think it's 1-800-387-5752 (Note: if you call the main number, you get the indian call center that can only offer a tiny bit, like the $20 printer - the canadian center can offer pricing discounts).
