Just beware that the order will process even before you submit.
I entered my information and proper address etc. just to see if the coupon would work and if there was a $10 processing fee and BANG I got an email confirming that my order was placed.
There is NO CONFIRMATION of the order screen. Once it has all the info it just sends the order.
I have used ClearlyContacts before and would recommend them, especially with this coupon but just be carefull you don't order something you don't want.

Yeah their web site isn't great, but what info do you really need?
Look up the info on the manufacturer's site.
Anyway I've bought from them several times in the last 2-3 years and am very happy about the speed at which the product ships and gets to me.
My last order, I placed on Friday afternoon, it shipped the same day and I got it Monday or Tuesday. Vancouver to Montreal, that's pretty quick.
The product seems the same as what I'd get from my optometrist, without the hassle of MIR, and still overall at a better price that any local store.
I've bought Accuvu 2 and Focus Toric's for my wife. We're both happy about our purchases.

I see that you need to fax / or write the info of your eye doctor..
I will check my insurance tomorow and I will definitly order some.

GREAT FIND OP! The same order was $117 a few months ago I got it for $81 with the coupon. That's US because I find the prices cheaper on coastalcontacts.com.
BTW they don't need your prescription, they just act like they are concerned so the authorities don't shut them down. They could probably care less what you put in your eyes. Don't try something new, just buy what you know works for you already.

No, I mean coastalcontacts.com is the US arm of the company. You can order from them as I have in the past and you'll get the exact thing only your visa will be charged in the cheaper US prices.

Awesome Find!
I use this place all the time, and honestly it is the best place to order contacts ON THE WEB.
Regarding the entering of the coupon code and having a problem with the form submitting before you enter it, I ran into this problem before with a different code.
What I did was e-mail their customer service, and explained my situation and what happenned. What they did will go down in my record books as the best custserv experience I have ever had.
They e-mailed me back in the afternoon, said they had added the coupon code to my account, and that because of the confusion, would take an extra 10% off of my bill. (even though I made the mistake!)
Order from them and you won't be dissapointed! :)
(EDIT: If you feel like going nuts like I did, order the full eye contacts. They are the most freaky thing I have ever seen. Link: https://www.clearlycontacts.ca/secure/shop1fproduct_CM.cfm?ProductCode=SFX134&ProdID=1378&Dispgroup=3&CatID=12 )

You might want to reconfirm your order. I tried doing this and noticed that the Description showed the $45 discount but didnt get applied to the actual Total. I then called "Coastal Contacts", and they reconfirmed with their marketing department that the $45 discount can only be applied to the canadian site (clearlycontacts.ca).
I still cant complain, the price given to me on the canadian site is still way better then my local optician. Thanks for the great post OP. :D

What a great ideal. Talk to the marketing dept to alert them to the glitch in their system. (I'm just breaking your b@!!$ because you DID say you couldn't apply the coupon that's why you called them.)
It worked perfectly fine ordering with the coupon on the US site yesterday. Congrats on whoever else scored on that deal. It's obvious they didn't intend on offering this offer to the US site, but my order went through before they caught it. Unwritten RULE OF THUMB TO RFD'ers: Don't ever call a company and ask them if their deal is really that good.

Sure you can. Go see your optometrist they get tons of them to give away.
Contact lenses are individual. I can't wear mine for more than two weeks, however my buddy wears his for months and sleeps 3 days in a row with them. Only way to know is to try it out first.

if you don't need any prescriptions then there's no need to get different boxes for left or right eye. you can order 1 box.
i have the same prescription for both eyes, and I can interchange the lenses between my eye.
however you do have to care about the base curve and diameter of the lens still because everyone's eyes are different.. and the worst part is that each manufacturer is actually different fit as well.
that's why optimitrist have these contact lens fitting sessions where they let you try on different contact lens and find out which ones fit you best.
So I'd suggest you start there instead of buy contacts that doesn't fit you properly.

dogbolter's comment is in regards to clearlycontacts.ca - once you hit submit, your order is processed. you will get your order confirmation # and method of payment will show up as "invoice".
with coastalcontacts.com, once you hit the buy now button you get a screen showing the coupon code discount and it also allow you to have the option of entering your credit card info., then pressing "continue" to place your order. then the next screen will show your order #.
lucky you had used coastalcontacts.com and not clearlycontacts.ca otherwise your order would have gone through. there is no next screen with a "continue" button at clearlycontacts.ca
ordering from coastalcontacts.com is much better and it costs much less too.

I am quite happy with the service as my optical store I used to shop at for contacts (Laurier Optical- Rideau location) would be so slow to get my orders in it would take them 6-8 weeks!
then I'd be completely out of contacts and would have to keep on gettinf sample pairs...aaargh!
anyway, glad i don't have to deal with that crap now....I'd pay more just to get my contacts at home- so I'm happy this company is great!
Laurier Optical is still really good for eyeglasses though, they have very nice designer frames for super cheap!

When I'm choosing the toric ones., none of them share both numbers. Either diamtere is right, and base is a few decimla places off or the reverse.
Anyone know what the proper thing to do is? If we can choose the next size...if so better to go one smaller or one larger?
Man., I can't believe there's such a crappier pricing for Toric lenses :(

bubble tea i feel you on those toric prices man.
anyway, walmart wouldn't give me a prescription even after my fitting and after spending hours looking for an optometrist who would actually give me a prescription, i end up spending 50 bucks for fitting. well that's not bad since the guy seems very professional and understanding about me ordering elsewhere. but the porblem is he won't be able to give me a prescription until the fitting process ends which is probably in a couple of weeks.
i was planning to order the lenses tomorrow w/ random numbers and using the coupon. then exchanging them within the 30 day period. has anyone done the exchange process w/ them and is it time consuming? i mean for them to send your exchanged lenses. or is it just as problem free as the ordering. i did read about how to send in the exchanges it just doesnt say how quickly these things can occur.

I had my fitting done at Laurier Optical rideau and also the Carlingwood one and they told me there that if I wanted I could try the regular lenses- even though I have an Astigmatism also.
I didn't notice that much difference between that and the Toric lenses honestly.
So, you should try and find an optician that will let you try different lenses.
Laurier at Rideau is great for that.
The optician I saw today kind of sucks as they would only give me 1 trial pair, while at Laurier I've gotten about 10 different brands to try and they only charged me a $20? or so fitting fee once.
Also, the salespeople there, some of them know how to change your prescription- so they just converted it for me a few times and I haven't had any problems :)

first time wearer should not order from through websites. get them from your optometrist or places like hakim. they'll fit you with the right contact lenses and get you the proper prescription, and show you how to properly care for your lenses, and which solution to use.
contact lense prescription differs from the eyeglasses prescription.
ordering through website is good if you already have a prescription and know how to care for your lenses.

Laurier Optical is still really good for eyeglasses though, they have very nice designer frames for super cheap!
so, they still have my eyeglasses business
Same sticky situation with me... It's unbelievable how they have all of these ready to go... even these ones... https://www.clearlycontacts.ca/secure/shop1fproduct_CM.cfm?ProductCode=SFX134&ProdID=1378&Dispgroup=3&CatID=12 which I would assume would expire because NO ONE but me would order them!
They come in less than 5 business days... unless you live in nunavut...

They get shipped from Vancouver so there's no duty charges, the invoice and box actually say Clearlycontacts.ca even though I ordered it from the US site which saved me at least $40.

Oh, as far as the diameter and base curve numbers, in general if you don't have astigmatism you should be relatively OK wearing most of them. I've worn 8.3 - 8.9 curve and 14 - 14.6 diameter and been fine with all of them.

Man this deal is hot! I ordered this twice on Coastalcontacts.com to get the best deal! 6 boxes of O2Optix
6 Boxes $18.89 +$7.36 = $120.70
BARGAIN DISCOUNT - $45 OFF -$45.00
SHP-1001 Shipping (Priority Post) $0.00
TOTAL $75.70
Thats less than $5 a pair!! Now I'm set for a year and a half!

O2 optix feel a lot more comfortable. I tried Acuvue Advance, and yes they are good, but only for a short period of time. I've worn the O2's now for 3 weeks straight (without taking them off) and they still feel great.
P.S. I DON'T recommend doing that!

I went about a year... and then woke up one morning with one missing behind my eye.

But who actually follows those rules anyways???
A monthly pair can effectively last you six months.. I wonder if they purposely try to scare you?

You went a year without taking them out? Which kind?
But... how did it suddenly one night get behind your eye? Doesn't sound like it actually has anything to do with wearing them longterm... more like a freak incident.
Actually, I just checked when I got my contacts... ordered them online early August, and this is my second pair. If I recall correctly, I don't remember wearing my first pair THAT long... I think probably two months, definitely not more than three... so I've actually worn my current pair for around 7 months.

A monthly pair can effectively last you six months.. I wonder if they purposely try to scare you?
-depends on how long you wear them for
-as you wear them longer, the surface gets contaminated
-the surface of soft lenses is specially designed for oxygen exhange
-contaminants reduce the effectiveness of surface to pass oxygen to your eyes
-as your eyes suffocate, veins grow from your retina out (close to the surface) to try and capture more oxygen
-this is followed by loss of vision
Since contacts are dirt cheap, I personally dont take chances with my vision, but hey, go ahead and wear them for 6 months....

For the contacts, there doesn't seem to be any apparent sensible (relating to your senses) reasons...

Damn daily disposable Acuvues are ridiculously expensive, $700 a year if I buy from the optometrist. Can't wear cheaper Focus dailies as my eye mysteriously warps them. :!: Love the daily lenses though, so much cleaner (no scratchy feeling when you 1st put them in)

The coupon is for $20 off their Clearly brand only... And you don't need to have over $100... I just tested it using 4 boxes of Clearly brand lenses @ $19.49/box and the sub-total comes to $82.02. So the order would be $69.97 after shipping and applying the coupon.

I just stumbled upon it. I think the site said the coupon code was posted on July 9. There was no expiry date listed there. It makes sense that it would be for an order over $100 (although it didn't say), as that's what the last $45-off coupon was for -- or was the other for $45 off $120? If so, and this one works for $100, then it's a great coupon.

Wow - for anyone new to clearlycontacts.ca be VERY careful with web site ordering page! I tried to test to see if the $45 off coupon works (it does - anything over $100), and it sent me to a page confirming that my order was placed! (Then e-mailed me my order #, etc). I had to call their 1-800# to cancel my order - they were very polite about it, and said that tons of people have had that problem lately.

Would like to try out contacts, I have never worn them before, and I know you can't answer everything in this thread, so can anyone point me to a good contact lens info site? How do I even choose, there are so many types.
Also, since the prescription is different for contacts (just two numbers right?), I would have to go back to the optometrist to get a prescription? Or can I get it from Lens Crafters or wherever (without buying contacts from them?) and buy them online?
Thanks

The US coastal contacts has a link to a rebate form ($30) which is only valid for US residents. But i know that my doctor would give me a $30 rebate for Canadian residents if i ordered from him. Does anyone know how to get one without having to purcahse form BM stores in Canada thanks!

anyone tell me if I can get an eye exam and get the prescription from a place like Lenscrafters or any optical shop, and not actually buy from them? Wouldn't it be weird to walk in, get a prescription, and not purchase?
I don't want to have to schedule an appt with my optometrist, then go all the way out to his office...(plus I hate my optometrist) Or are there "walk in" optometrists?

not weird at all. You are paying to get the eye exam and prescription written. Then when they try to sell you contacts tell them how you can get them cheaper and ask them to price match and see if they will bargin.
eg my optometrist charges me $100 (i go to her because she does a realy detailed job during the eye exam with many tests) then get the prescription written on paper and head to the walmart. :cheesygri

that is different though, no? you are going to your optometrist (do optometrists sell glasses??) and then going to Walmart or whatever optical shop... which is what everyone does?
But i mean getting the eye exam right at the optical shop itself, and then not buying anything..?
by the way, how much is an eye exam at the optical shop? $50?

hmmm She (my OPT) has a shop.
my optometrists sells glasses and contacts, many do. I just go because "she gives good exam." :) and i get the prescription written out.
Then i go to walmart to buy. On my first visit to walmart they had me give them $45 "fitting" charge. It was a McDonalds pretend eye exam less than 3 minutes with two quick eye tests and no drops put in eyes and eyes not examined with light.
I asked and was told by the Walmart it (the mini eye exam) is more to make sure the prescription I was given from my OPT is not way off or possibly faked. It is there to keep Walmart out of trouble in a way and i agree. After that (4 years ago) all I have to do is go there with a new prescrption from my real OPT and Walmart just orders contacts right away, no fitting fee, etc.
If you go to walmart they should give you a much better eye exam than they gave me since you have no written prescription.
I am not obliged to buy from my OPT shop after the eye exam (she sells contacts and glasses) and has a wall display.
"getting the eye exam right at the optical shop itself, and then not buying anything..?"
but this is not free and you should not feel obliged to buy from them unless they give you a good deal. You paid for the exam and it is not cheap, well unless they do a quick eye exam. But I had that done once and it was not worth it, the contacts i got, the prescription I got was off and my sight was blurry. beware. Having a good OPT that knows your history and type of eye (dry, mis-shaped, etc) is gold, and will prescribe and suggest good contacts.
I guess I am Emphasizing "don't feel bad/obliged to buy at the same place you got you exam" because my mom got owned (overcharged) by my OPT just for lenses $450. After her exam they slickly sold her new lenses. Once I found out I called and could not cancel because "they have been ordered.” RIPOFF!

I'm the original poster of this most recent coupon. I'm not sure why it was removed, as people are still getting the code in a very Rube Goldberg kind of way, that being asking for PMs, then waiting, then getting PMs. Anyway, I'll PM anyone the code who PMs me for it. Unless a post comes up that says it's verboten to PM the coupon code.

I found't their lowest price guarantee to be difficult as well. They make it very difficult to price match visiondirect(who almost always have cheaper contacts than them.) When I called them up to price match they wanted me to order from vision direct, fax them invoice then cancel my vision direct order so that they could compare shipping costs. Didn't seem worth my effort not to just order from vision direct at that point since they only 100% price match. They are much faster at shipping in Canada than vision direct though.
Seems odd to have a lowest price guarantee when another site always has lower prices.

Three questions for those who have taken advantage of this deal...
1) How much is shipping from CoastalContacts.com to Canada (assuming you make it at least a $100 order)?
2) How do they ship it? US Postal? UPS (Aaah!)? something else?
3) And does the order have to be >$100 *after* the coupon to qualify? Or can you get free/cheaper shipping if it's $100 minus the $45 coupon?
Thanks!

Order from CoastalContacts.com and ship to Canada:
Over $99 order is free shipping but charge ~$6 handling fees. So shipping and handling is ~$6.
My order is shipped from BC, even I ordered in the US web site and paid in US dollar, it may depends on stock situation?
Free shipping is $99 order before $45 coupon, so total is $54 + handling fees and free shipping if you order is $99.

I never wore contacts before (I've always worn glasses). This will be my first purchase, so I was wondering which would be better for a newbie like me. Daily, weekly or monthly? What would be easier to handle and more hassle-free. I'll go to my opt today and get my prescription!

Their webpage doesn't seem to be compatible with Safari when it comes to completing the order.
I subsequently tried firefox and that worked.
However, I was rather annoyed that they offer free shipping and then tack on a $9.85 handling charge at the last minute.
I previously ordered from Vision direct in the US, they charged $5.99 shipping (no additional handling charge), but their coupon at the time was only $US25.00; the $US45 coupon definitely makes this a better deal.

I would discuss this in detail with your eye doctor.
What's best varies for each individual, I doubt anyone can give you valid advice just like that over the net.
I went from glasses to gas-permeable hard lenses because you can focus better with those than with soft lenses, but they're harder to get used to.

Hi,
I totally agree with you in this regard. I think it's a bit misleading to offer "free shipping," then to tack on a "handling" charge instead. A rose by any other name, so to speak. When I ordered from clearlycontacts.ca, the order was placed immediately once I pushed "Buy Now" without having the opportunity to look it over first (as others have pointed out) and I was surprised to see the handling charge. I went back to the previous screen and didn't see anything about a handling charge. I actually looked all over the site and -- unless the site's been changed -- it didn't say anything anywhere on the site about a handling charge. So I phoned them up and they took off the charge. Certainly I plan to do the same thing again in that regard when I re-order. They really shouldn't be tacking on a handling charge without saying in advance that they're going to do so.
Having said all that...still a super deal with $45 off!

If you have never worn contact lenses before, I highly recommend that you visit a lens specialist first. They can recommend specific contacts for your particular prescription. You don't have to buy anything that they offer - just write down the names of the contacts, prices, etc.

i couldnt agree more...in addition to helping you find the right lense (like archimed stated), having someone there at the doctors office to help you put in the lenses is great. putting in contacts for the first few times is very tricky and scary for a lot of people.
the conversion from glasses prescription to contacts prescription will usually result in a lower number. ie. a -11.50 converses to a -10.00 for contacts.
if u are just starting out, dont take chances. go see your eye doctor for proper fitting and information first. the savings is not worth the risk if you dont know much about contacts.

I also think for a first-time wearer it doesn't hurt to pay that "fitting fee" (like $15 at Wal-Mart Optical) and have them give you the right prescription for lenses but also -- and maybe more importantly for a first-timer -- try lenses until you find one that's right for you. At Wal-Mart, you can try relatively limitless pairs. After wearing a pair for a week or so, it's pretty clear which one's the best for you. Then you write down the details from the little blister packages and order online.

They won't reverse orders, and I already received mine, so it doesn't hurt me. However, they might, as in many previous cases, end the deal or seal the loophole: you said yourself, "The deal was always meant for US residence only." Right, so we get the deal because of an error!! It's happened many times before, and it is usually newbs who wind up ruining it for those who haven't gotten in on it yet. If you've been around RFD long enough, you would have seen it happen a few times.

Thanks, placed an order. Lets see how it goes.
Got it today, 4 days later. Came with free sunglasses, and coupon was honored. I am very satisfied with the purchase.

That happened to me as well because I also ordered more a more specialty lens. They said they only keep the more "normal" ones in stock. On the good side, they did come in on the date promised.

Torics are custom ordered - i.e. to fit your particular astigmatism - so they will definitely take longer than mass produced lenses.

Has anyone had a problem claiming from your canadian insurance company?
Also, what method do they use to ship from US? Anyone had problems with customs?
Thanks for all ur replies.

I'm about to place another order on the US site. But the last time I did earlier this year, the package came from BC via Xpresspost. The invoice is Canadian and has no indication that you ordered from the US. However, be aware that the total price listed is what you paid in USD (but again, no indication of currency). So I don't see any problem claming insurance, it's just that you won't get all that you paid for.

I just tried a "dummy" order.
Coupon still works for me.
It also doesn't say anywhere on the site that the coupon is for US addresses only. Why should it be?
The US site obviously caters to Canadian customers (pull down for provinces in addition to the US states). I think the guy who told you it's for US customers only is off in left field.
As to claiming the cost with a Canadian insurance company. I bought contacts previously from Vision Direct in the US when they had a discount coupon.
No problem - amount was converted to Cdn $ and the insurance paid. But it could depend on the specific insurance.

I placed an order on July 24th, screwed up the "coupon" applying part, and then emailed their customer service, asking them if they'd kindly take care of the issue...
I got the following reply from their CS dept:
Thank you for your recent email to Clearly Contacts. The coupon code BARGAIN is an old coupon and expired I believe in May . I am sorry for any inconveniences that this matter may cause you. If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thanks,

what you should've done was ask them to cancel this order.
then re-order it using the correct new coupon code. :) still works as of this morning.
when you re-order -> order it from coastalcontacts.com
it'll save you more $ in comparison to clearlycontacts.ca
god, does nobody read the entire thread anymore? lots of reasons given as to why you should order from coastalcontacts.com
if you had read the entire thread you would've realized the old code does not work. and why you should not order from clearlycontacts.ca
since the code works on both coastalcontacts.com and clearlycontacts.ca, why order from clearlycontacts.ca?
has the order shipped? if not, email them right away you want it cancel. tomorrow, pick up the phone and call them saying you want to cancel it.
then re-order it w/ the new coupon on coastalcontacts.com. hopefully new coupon will will continue to work in the next few days. :) (nobody seems to know the expiry date.)
good luck.
since you ordered it on july 24, you probably already received it?
