Picked up a set of these tonight at Staples for $14.98 - they are just going on 50% clearance tomorrow I'm told by nice manager who told me to buy them today. Nice little speakers 28 watts total RMS for 2.1's.
Also picked up Hitman 2 for PC for grand total of $2.48 if anyone is interested.

I spotted at set of these in the clearance bin for ~$30 yesterday @ Penticton. I'm sure having them instock is a good start, I'll have to see if they're 50% off today :)

LABTEC .. meh ... they dont sound that good. I used to work at a computer store and tested them out. There are better options available.

this is not hot. Whats the point of wasting money on garbage speakers that will end up blowing?
Even if it was 14cents I still wouldnt get it.
Labtec for the loss.

I checked the review on internet and it got a lot of positive reviews. So I think it may be a good deal for this price.

While, even on Amazon, you can read this:

These are good speakers for the money but don't expect fantastic sound. Also, the volume control is on the sub; that's kind of a drag, since it's not within easy reach while I'm working on my computer.
I first should mention that from my birth up until today, the only sound I've ever heard from a computer is onboard audio played through cheap speakers. I recently bought a decent sound card and I realized the built-in speakers on my moniter just weren't cutting it. So, I ordered these. A shipping center must be close to my house because I received my new speakers the next day on standard shipping. I paid about $35 including shipping, but these speakers are easily worth $60+. Stunning, clear sound and incredible bass is the only way to describe it. I'd recommend these even if you still plan on using onboard audio. The only negatives are that I didn't buy this sooner and the knobs on the subwoofer are in the back.
.................
Another two votes for it: (Rated 9 out of 10)
http://reviews.cnet.com/Labtec_Pulse_485_PC_multimedia_speaker_system/4505-3179_7-30993031.html
So the major concern is "the knobs on the subwoofer are in the back", otherwise, it is good for the price.

I usually use headphones, so these look like a good deal to me. The only hting that cut close were those altec lansings...which IMO were incredibly fugly. I'll probalby pick one up. Or I'll wait. If I pick some up, I'll give a review.

clearance items will usually have diff. discounts depending on location, AFAIK.
i've seen 25%, 20%, 50% at diff. times, at diff. locations. (that is, the XX% "additional discount" off the lowest tagged price)
sometimes it may not even be advertised as to how much more they will take off of the clearance price tag...

It was with all the other 50% clearance items, and still is.

Thanks, my local staples has some (does not apply to computers and accesories) with their "50% off all clearance merchandise" sign, so I'll check it out tomorrow.
