I was trying to buy a bottle of suncreen lotion but there were too many brands to choose from. Which sunscreen lotion do you guys currently use?

I have been using Hawian Tropic for years. Gotta love the coconut scent!
Coppertone works great too.

Hmm.. sun or chemicals that penetrate into my skin? I think I'll take my chances with the sun, source of Energy, Vitamin D, and necessary for life on this planet, kthx.

I'm somewhat with Kage.. although I'll use sunscreen if I know I'm going to be exposed for a long period under which I would burn. A bad burn must be worse than the toxicity of the average sunscreen.
Otherwise, under normal life, I don't care.. I'll deal with wrinkly skin when I'm old, at least I'll be old to deal with it.

There are a lot of brands that carry suncreen that doesn't have that strong sunscreen smell, ie Shiseido, Clarins (UV plus spf40) and most Japanese brands are lightly fragranced, or has no strong smell. They are also very light in texture, unlike the typical thick, oily sunscreen.
The sun is very damaging to people's skin, I personally wear it everyday. Also, the sunscreen doesn't provide 100% protection, so you'll still get some vitamin D when using suncreen

The cheapy sunscreens have that nasty smell...Coppertone and Hawaiian Sun come to mind. And they're sticky. Ombrelle is a very good brand to buy and it's so smelly or very sticky. Obviously you're going to get a little sticky with humidity and sweat but Ombrelle, Ambre Solaire, L'Oreal Solaire Expertise- they're protective, non comogenic and non sticky. Look for ones that have Mexoryl XL and SX as they provide protection from UVB and UVA rays. Shiseido also makes a good sunscreen that's light and protective but it is VERY EXPENSIVE.

Personally I use Ombrelle as it is the only sunscreen in Canada or the united states that contains meroxyl. (there is another brand, but I forget what exactly it is, and its way more expensive) Sunscreens with Meroxyl protect your skin against UVA and UVB, as opposed to sunscreens without meroxyl. I did alot of research on this last summer, and found that meroxyl protects your skin against the deep wrinkles that show up later in life. It costs a little more than no name brands I used to use, but its a small price to pay for a lack of wrinkles later on in life! :)

There's two types of sunscreen: chemical and physical.
The one with the physical ingredients (mineral filters) like titanium dioxide and zinc stays on the surface of your skin acting as a shield against the sun-rays (UVA/UVB broadspectrum). Although this may cause a little white cast, I use this all the time since it provide good protections without worrying about the chemicals seeping into my skin and causing irritations and other bad stuff.
Brands i often use are: Shiseido gentle sun protechtion lotion (no or very lil grease), Megan Gale invisible zinc sunscreen, Clarins sun care cream very high protection 100% mineral filters "for children"

Another brand that also contains meroxyl is Anthelios by La Roche-Posay Canada
My mom uses this on her face. I find both this and Ombrelle are way more greasy than Shiseido.
I also heard that sunscreen is better if it is coupled with vitamins such as C and E to help the sunscreen work better. Clinique superdefense is a good brand that has all of these but too bad I couldn't use it because my skin is very sensitive.

My family doctor recommended Ombrelle because it contains titanium dioxide. I hate ones that have smells, especially coconut, smells like sh*t. He also told me its not worth paying extra for the spf45, just get the 30. Because its only about 3% more protection and it costs a lot more.

I hate most sunscreens so I use spray on sunscreen. Alcohol based, you don't even know you are wearing it and it has been shown to be just as effective as regular sunscreen. Sometimes moreso because it is more evenly applied.
Just because you don't get sunburns doesn't mean you aren't damaging your skin. you can get all wrinkled if you don't put the stuff on, even if you are really dark skinneed.

I use clear gel based sunscreens, Presun Ultra Gel mostly, and there's another company making a gel sunscreen, I think it's Coppertone.

I don't like the creams, they take forever to apply.

My doctor told me that since I don't easily burn I should only wear sunscreen when i know i'm going to be in prolonged exposure. A little sun here and there won't hurt. People who wear it daily are probrably at higher risk to getting cancer from all those chemicals than the sun.

That sounds like a good doctor!
