Sorry, I doubt any of us will ever know someone or have the opportunity to be covered by garbage bags while in a fully body cast on top of rusty gurney in a Chinese hospital.

This picture is from Sichuan Chengdu Hospital. I think he's simultaneously applying pressure to the patient while also using it to move things around the hospital.

He tried to commit suicide by putting his mouth to a helium tank nozzle and ingesting the gas, but this failed. The bags were placed on top to keep him from floating away.

IMO, the person on the stretcher is dead. There is no way they would do that with a patient. The picture is very disturbing, especially the face of the male nurse and his utter indifference. Just imagine someone you know gets treatment like that? Personally I would go all crazy.

haha nice one, there you go.........so the guy isn't dead........

patient probably wanted some type of massage and the male nurse said "hell no, you get these four heavy bags.......if you rock back and forth and close your eyes, you can pretend 4 beautiful Asian maidens are stepping on you and massaging you with their feet...."

Plus the patient is all wrapped up, so he isn't going anywhere and can't really complain.......so he might as well make the best out of a bad situation........hence he is closing his eyes.......

you know i had a second look at the pic after reading the caption expecting to see vertical support bars holding up the cargo tray. There is none. poor guy is supporting the weight of the cargo tray (stretcher) and the bags. Well i hope the bags are light and not carrying clothes or cement. lol

the sad thing is, the hospital looks like a really modern/western metropolitan hospital.

check out the decorative stone around the elevator, the marble walls, fancy glossy tiled floors, and the new signs. This is probably already the Four Seasons of Chinese hospitals.
