Hi Guys,
I just bought a Dell D610 laptop and right now it seems like the max display settings I can get its 1024 x 768.
What's weird is that when i first install the drivers from the dell website and i'm selecting the settings, I can go higher than 1072x768. But once I change it to 1072x768 the higher settings are unavailable.
I believe I have the following vid card: XGA, Intel GMA 900.
Is it possible for me to go higher?

Thats the max native resolution on your laptop. Some laptops allow you to go higher, but you still only see the max native resolution portion of it. Everything else would look bigger tho.

The only way to get a higher resolution is to swap in the SXGA+ (1400x1050) screen that's available for your laptop, but that means you have to buy a new screen. They go for a few hundred on ebay.
Since you say you just bought it, if you really want higher res then talk to Dell and see if they're willing to upgrade the screen. Or, return your current one and reorder with the SXGA+ screen.

Ya, that's the native resolution of most laptops.

The SXGA+ screen is quite worth it! :)
I ordered my D610 with it. While the resolution size doesn't seem to be any certain "standard" at 1400x1050, it looks nice and crisp, and you can have a nice-size desktop.
I run my main rig at 1280x1024, so switching to my laptop always has that WOW effect. LOL and I'm blind.
