I have a gazillion of my newborn and some avi's from the Canon digit cam. I've been using Nero 6 to burn the images onto a CDR for relatives to watch on their dvd. I'm not really please with the quality of the image that NERO does as it's clearly not a sharp once it's converted into a vcd format. I would also like to try converting the avi's to the desk as well but I'm thinking I'll probably be unhappy w/the results as well.
Any other software suggestions ? Free wud be preferred RFD way but anybody with personal experience with a suggested software would be great.
Thanks :)

I use Ulead's DVD Picture Show for photos but it does video clips too. I recommend it for the novice user since everything's all laid out for you in templates. You can customize too but involves more work. The "Ken Burns Effect" is cool too. I use it because I get it free through work...there's lots of other software out there, cheaper and free, but I like this one.
Here's one site (Videohelp.com) (http://www.videohelp.com/author#3;52) that'll help you get started and decide for yourself what's easiest for you to use. If you only want to use video clips that site has lots of info on that too. Look around.
Also, don't bother with the VCD format, use DVD, the quality's much better.

Thanks, will look into it. :)
I didn't know there was a difference quality wise if vcd was chosen. I mean, I know DVD is better quality wise, but I thought the software would just crunch both the same and then fit it into whatever capacity disc was place in the drive, in this case a 700mb cdr. I'll try it with the dvd option to see if the lines improve.
Also just downloaded from http://www.photodex.com/company to try it out.
