I tried to search for "HTPC" but it didn';t fetch any info that is particularly useful.

We've recently upgraded the TV so we have a spare one kicking around. I'm thinking of moving it to the computer room (rather spacious there so it should work). This HTPC thing crossed my mind and I was wondering what do I really need to have such a setup? Do I need a seriously high power computer? Here's what I have and if anyone can give some feedbacks, it'd be great!

Sempron 754 2800+
512 DDR 400 RAM

Video currently is onboard. Obviously I'll need one for the HTPC purpose. How much am I looking at? I know the price range of HDD so that's ok. Do I need a good sound card too? There's a full set of stereo with amp and all. Do I still need a decent sound card to connect them? thanks ahead

You may want to check out www.sensuz.com
Ask around in their forum section. There may be someone there that might be able to give you a hand.

Check out http://www.htpcnews.com/

It's the best site for HTPC information IMO.

Thanks for the link. The stuff mentioned there seem really hightech (especially the cases). :) Hmm... any more pointers?

2800+ sempron is good enough

it all depends on what ur planning on doing with ur htpc

if ur sound card already has 5.1 u dont need any special one

Nothing special, really. Just a station that can play video, DVD, music and such, that's all. PVR would be nice but I don't see the point since we already have HD PVR downstairs.
